If you surveyed hundreds of people and asked what the most popular franchise was in the world, we could almost guarantee that Harry Potter would make that list a few times.

Over the years, the Harry Potter (and larger Wizarding World) brands have made BILLIONS of dollars with movies, books, and even theme park lands. But now, Warner Bros is looking to cash in on the name yet again…hoping to make MORE Harry Potter films!
The Hollywood Reporter has shared comments from Warner Bros CEO David Zaslav, who spoke about the future of the company at an investor’s meeting. Zaslav noted that Warner Bros intends to focus on franchises as a business strategy going forward — “We haven’t had a Superman movie in 13 years. We haven’t done a Harry Potter in 15 years. The DC movies and the Harry Potter movies provided a lot of the profits for Warner Bros. … over the past 25 years.”

The studio also has theatrical rights to The Lord of the Rings, but after mentioning that franchise, Zaslav went back to talking about Harry Potter. “If we can do something with J.K. on Harry Potter going forward,” the executive said. The original eight Harry Potter films grossed $7.7 billion globally, which we don’t have to tell you, is a pretty hefty number.

We’ll see if anything comes of these comments, but it would certainly be exciting to see some of our favorite characters on screen again or to explore a new storyline! We’ll keep watching for any big Harry Potter or Wizarding World news.

I know Fantastic Beasts is planned for five films, but as it hasn’t taken off nor been as entertaining as Harry Potter, I wouldn’t mind if FB would be brought to a quick ending in the fourth film and a trilogy of films be adapted from The Cursed Child script containing as many of the original actors as possible.
