We Waited More Than TWO HOURS to Pick Up a Passholder Magnet in Disney World

Over the years, we’ve seen a variety of different perks for Disney World’s Annual Passholders!

They can get discounts on merchandise, purchase exclusive items in the parks, and sometimes even save money on hotel rooms. And today, another perk is now available in Disney Springs — a free magnet!

The tradition of giving free magnets to Passholders has been a longstanding one, but we haven’t seen quite as many new designs since the parks reopened in 2020. But from March 2nd-March 30th, you can pick up a new 50th Anniversary Passholder magnet at Disney Springs!

There’s a new magnet available!

In the past, guests would simply wait in line at the pickup location to get their magnets, but now, there’s a virtual queue. If you’re within 45 miles of Disney Springs and you’re an Annual Passholder, the virtual queue option will show up on the home screen of the My Disney Experience app.

You’ll see a new section in the app.

At 9AM, 1PM, and 5PM each day, you’ll be given the opportunity to join the virtual queue. Then, you just wait and return when your group number is called. (It works similarly to how Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and Rise of the Resistance operated with boarding groups.) Your return time could be anywhere from 10AM-10PM.

All the instructions are in the app.

Once your group is called, you’ll get in line to pick up your magnet at Disney’s Wonderful World of Memories. We had to wait more than two hours for our group to be called back, and once we returned, there was a standby line at the store. Thankfully, we didn’t have to wait long in the physical line itself.

The line got pretty long!

Once we made it to the front, we just had to show our I.D. and Passholder card to pick up our magnet. Isn’t it fun?!

Check it out!

It’s definitely EARidescent — this thing really shimmers in the sun!

It’s SUPER shimmery.

Keep in mind that while you’ll be able to add guests from your Family & Friends list to your virtual queue on the My Disney Experience app, you won’t be able to pick up their magnets for them. All Passholders who want magnets must be present when you arrive at the store.

  1. Picked ours up yesterday with a minimal wait. The awesome Cast Member also gave us 2 extra magnets for our AP holder daughter and son in law who were not there in person but linked in our MDE account. We all live in the Tampa Bay Area.

  2. My daughter and I are both annual passholders. She is local and I am from out of state. I understood that you can join the virtual queue together if you’re both in your friends and family but all annual passholders had to be present to receive their magnet. In your post you stated that an annual passholder could pick one up for another. Please confirm.

    1. Hi Julie! We are receiving reports that all pass holders must be present in order to pick up their magnet, unfortunately.
