Not only that, but both Josh Gad and Luke Evans will be reprising their roles from the live-action movie — but now we’ve learned that another actor has signed on for the project!

According to Deadline, actor is Jelani Alladin, who fans might recognize from The Walking Dead: World Beyond or from his time playing Kristoff in Broadway’s Frozen. Alladin will join Gad, Evans, Briana Middleton, and Fra Fee in the prequel series.

The limited musical series will have eight episodes and start before Belle found herself at Beast’s castle. It will follow the adventures of Gaston and LeFou on a journey that will take them through the mysteries of the past and “the dangers of the present,” while uncovering the kingdom’s “many secrets.” Alladin plays Jean-Michel, an artist with a “quick wit, a sharp intellect, and a fierce independent streak.” We’re intrigued!

The series is being written by Gad, along with Once Upon A Time creators Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz — all three men are also acting as executive producers and showrunners. The pilot is being directed by Tony-nominated Liesl Tommy.

We’ll keep an eye on more news coming out of this production and fill you in when we get more details! So stay tuned!
