What Disney World Pausing Annual Pass Sales Means for Current Passholders

Earlier this year, it was announced that Disney World would be introducing a brand new Annual Passholder program beginning September 8th, 2021 after over a year of new sales being suspended.

As part of the announcement, Disney shared that the number of new annual pass sales would be limited and sales could be paused at any time in order to manage capacity levels and limit attendance in the parks. And, for the first time since these new Annual Passes went on sale, Disney has paused the purchasing of most options. But, what does this mean for annual passholders who are in their renewal window? Let’s take a look.

As a quick reminder, Disney paused the new sales of three of the four new tiers (Disney Incredi-Pass, Disney Sorcerer Pass, and Disney Pirate Pass) on November 21st, 2021 and they have not yet announced a date on when sales could resume. The Disney Pixie Dust Pass is still available for purchase, though keep in mind that this ticket option includes the most blockout dates and guests must be a Florida Resident to purchase.

As with any big (or even small) change, many current Annual Passholders have been left to wonder how it may impact their Annual Pass. And, the simple answer is that it doesn’t.

According to Disney’s website, “all current Passholders can continue to renew into any of [the] four pass types — at their renewal rate — and continue to visit using their pass.”

So, if you’re approaching your renewal window, you’ll still be able to purchase into any of the four new tiers when the time comes. Plus, current annual passholders can even continue to customize their pass with add-on options like unlimited PhotoPass downloads and Water Park access outside of their renewal window.

Don’t forget that Annual Passholders are still required to make a Park Pass Reservation for the park and the date that they plan to visit.
