Grab Your Calendars: You Won’t Want to Miss These Disney Events in 2022

Destination D23 has begun in Disney World!

During this event, guests will get to learn (and see) some awesome things about Disney history, what’s going on with the Disney parks now, and what things could be in store for the future. We’re LIVE at the event and sharing all of the latest updates with you. And now we’ve got some important details about D23 events coming in 2022 that you’ll want to know about.

Pull out those phones, 2022 calendars, and Disney bucket lists: it’s time to mark some stuff down! Earlier today, D23 (Disney’s official fan club) announced the lineup of events they’ll be offering in 2022 (including the return of some popular experiences).

Let’s go through it all here:

1 — D23 Expo 2022

On September 9th through the 11th, 2022, D23 Expo 2022 (the Ultimate Disney Fan Event) will be back. During the event, fans will get to hear big updates from Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel. They’ll also get a first look at the BIG plans Disney has for the 100th anniversary of the Walt Disney Company.

2 — Walt’s Marceline

Ever wondered what Main Street, U.S.A. in Disneyland was inspired by? Well, then you’ll want to head to Marceline, Missouri, a town where Walt Disney spent part of his early childhood. Walt often cited Marceline as one of his greatest influences and its main road served as inspiration for Main Street, U.S.A.

D23 members will get the chance to visit Marceline, the Walt Disney Hometown Museum, and more during this special event.

3 — Dave Smith Window Dedication

On January 24th, 2021, Disney Legend Dave Smith — the founder of the Walt Disney Archives — will be honored with a very special window in Disneyland. Smith passed away in 2019 at the age of 78.

D23 Gold Members will get to enjoy a special presentation as part of this unique event.

4 — Bedknobs and Broomsticks Diamond Anniversary

Bedknobs and Broomsticks is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2022.

On January 29th, 2022, Disney will host special screenings of the film on The Walt Disney Studios lot and guests will even get the chance to see items on display from the Disney Archives.

5 — Star Wars Celebration: Galactic Member Mixer

Star Wars Celebration will be taking place in May of 2022.

D23 members will be able to enjoy a special Member Mixer during the event at the Anaheim Convention Center.

6 — The Walt Disney Studios Official Tour

In 2022, tours of the Walt Disney Studios lot will also return, giving D23 Members the chance to see Walt Disney’s restored office, the Disney archives, and more.

7 — Big Movie Anniversaries

In 2022, several Disney films will also be celebrating some big anniversaries. Lilo & Stitch will celebrate 25 years, Hercules will have its 25th anniversary, Aladdin will celebrate 30 years, and The Muppet Christmas Carol will celebrate 30 years.

D23 will be celebrating these anniversaries with virtual and in-person events!

8 — Disney Theatrical

During 2022, there will also be more D23 nights than before at 2 Disney theater productions. The tours in North America of Disney’s The Lion King and Disney’s Frozen will offer D23 members special ticket packages and post-show events (like Q&A’s with the cast).

The first spots for these will be:

• Austin & St. Louis for The Lion King
• Atlanta and Orlando for Frozen

9 — Disney Imagineering Events

During 2022, there will also be more D23 x Walt Disney Imagineering events. Specifically, D23 has indicated that members can look forward to a special event in honor of Disneyland Paris’ 30th Anniversary.

10 — Signature Events

But wait, there’s MORE! D23 has also shared that in 2022 there will be Gold Member Previews of Walt Disney Archives exhibits that will be traveling across the country. There will also be D23 Gold Member advance and opening night screenings at select spots. Members will also get the chance to shop at Disney Imagineering’s store — Mickey’s of Glendale. And there will be a Halloween event (with a Hocus Pocus twist) and the return of the Light Up the Season holiday event.
