We’ve seen (and overheard) plenty of hilarious things visiting the theme parks, but, when we’re not making our way around the parks, we can always look to one place to bring a smile to our face — Universal Orlando’s Twitter account.

Over the years, the account has tweeted out funny remarks in response to Disney World happenings like the closure of the NBA Experience in Disney Springs and the new EPCOT entrance fountain. And, even Disneyland isn’t safe from Universal Studios Hollywood’s comebacks. But, recently, it wasn’t Universal’s Twitter account that came out with a witty response — it was Disneyland Resort!
Last week, the Orange County Register tweeted out a link to a recent article reporting on a study that valued theme parks based on the cost of the ticket compared to how many rides are in the park. And, it found that Universal Studios Hollywood “costs nearly 10 times more per ride than Disneyland.”
Soon after the article was shared on Twitter, Disneyland Resort’s Twitter issued a response, saying that they “are thrilled to continue our phased reopening and welcome Guests back to the Happiest Place on Earth.” Now, unlike Universal’s Twitter accounts, Disneyland tends to stay pretty quiet in the Twitter-sphere, so it was a BIG deal to see a response!

According to the article, the study found Universal Studios Hollywood to cost $12.83 per ride, whereas Disneyland Park cost only $1.37 per ride and Disney California Adventure cost $2.80 per ride. However, just days after the Twitter exchange, Disneyland increased the cost of tickets, adding in a pricier sixth tier to their previously 5 tiered demand-based structure.
So, Universal Studios Hollywood may no longer cost almost 10 times more per ride than Disneyland, but the timing of the Twitter response from Disneyland certainly is something to take note of.
Universal has yet to respond to the tweet, but we’ll keep an eye out! And, in the meantime, be sure to stay tuned to AllEars for more of the latest Disney news and updates!
