4 Times Universal Orlando’s Twitter Made Us LOL This Year

Universal Orlando is known for a lot of things — Butterbeer, Halloween Horror Nights, and big ol’ coasters to name a few.

Universal Orlando

But did you know Universal Orlando is also home to one of the funniest Twitter accounts on the web? We are often checking in as part of our job (gotta report the news somehow!), and more often than not, we find ourselves LOLing at what we see.

From throwing shade to trying to cover up a GIANT new roller coaster, we can’t help but appreciate this hilarious account.

Here are 4 times we’ve laughed recently at Universal Orlando’s Twitter:

1. The Velocicoaster Cover-up

Until earlier this week, Universal Orlando pretended nothing was happening in the Jurassic Park section of Islands of Adventure, despite a huge coaster under construction that was literally bearing a Jurassic Park flag.

They told guests not to be suspicious and even joked that it was just a churro stand.

So it only makes sense that when they finally officially announced the new coaster, they had to keep the joke going with a few hilarious tweets. First, they had to confirm what we all knew — and made sure to say “We knew you were suspicious.”

And second, the cherry on top, they had to reflect back on their original joke that there was nothing to see — just a new churro stand. 😉

We love that they played along with the guests and fans who were eager to hear the official word on Velocicoaster! And we can’t WAIT to ride it.

2. National Coffee Day

This one is for the Universal fans — particularly for fans of Revenge of the Mummy!

Fans of the attraction will know that it ends with Brendan Frasier being interviewed, and he shouts  “I would have enjoyed this interview a lot more, if I HAD GOTTEN MY CUP OF COFFEE!!!” And since it’s National Coffee Day, it’s the perfect day for this “inside” joke.

3. Speaking Truth About Snacks

There’s one thing fans love about Halloween Horror Nights, and that’s the snacks. (Or is that just us?) When Universal Orlando announced they were cancelling the popular event, many of us were sad we wouldn’t get to eat beloved treats, such as pizza fries!

Luckily, Universal released special snacks AND an abridged Halloween event, which in 2020 is the best-case scenario. Which is why we are loving this tweet, and TBH, can’t argue with it:

They also made a great comparison between the iconic Voodoo donut…and a voodoo doll.

4. More “Churro Stands”

In addition to the Velocicoaster, the Twitter-verse was blowing up with speculation prior to the official Halloween Horror Nights houses confirmation.

Universal brought back their old joke — saying it was just a churro stand.

Thank you Universal Orlando Twitter. We can always count on you for the latest updates — and to make us laugh.
