Why You Might Actually Want to Visit Disney World on the Weekend Right Now

As Pumpkin Spice Lattes return and Halloween sweeps across Disney World, we’re entering the time of the year when temperatures drop (well, almost) and so do the crowd levels!

Welcome to the Magic Kingdom!

Although the weekends are when many people head to the parks with friends and family, we’ve seen some big changes in the crowd levels as of late. And, they might make you want to opt for a trip to Disney World during the off-season, instead of the holidays!

Although the Magic Kingdom opened at 9AM, things were still quiet after 10AM around the park.

Many attractions sat between a 5 and 20 minute wait…

…with the longest wait at only 40 minutes for the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Usually, this attraction can climb anywhere from an hour to two hours, depending on the time of the year and day of the week. And, the weekends would normally make this a hot spot, which is why it was a surprise to see it quiet compared to recent waits.

As of 4PM EST on Saturday, the wait times hadn’t seen a lot of fluctuation. All attractions were at 60 minutes and under. The highest waits were at Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, Peter Pan’s Flight, and Test Track at 45 minutes, Slinky Dog Dash at 50 minutes, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at 55 minutes, and Astro Orbiter at 60 minutes.

Toy Story Land!

Popular attractions like the Tower of Terror and Space Mountain were at 20 and 25 minutes respectively, while Avatar Flight of Passage and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster were at 30 minutes.

Now that many kids are back in school and summer vacation time has come to a close for guests, the parks have gotten a lot quieter than they were a few weeks ago. Although the weekends are usually busy, crowds were more sparse than usual now that Disney World is shifting towards an “off-season.”

However, we’ll be sure to keep you updated on the wait times we see over the next few weeks as well! Stay tuned with AllEars for the latest Disney entertainment and news coming soon!

  1. Not only have the American schools reopened causing low crowds, you also don’t have many international guests (British schools don’t to back until end of August for instance) and from what I have been reading in All Ears comments, a lot of people are not happy with the way Disney are now operating (me included) and have stopped visiting. Disney are shooting themselves in the foot in my opinion.
