There’s a pretty typical list of things to do in Disney World, whether you’re riding attractions, eating at your favorite restaurants, or waving to characters.
Buuuut, we’ve also seen quite a few bizarre things across the property that you wouldn’t expect you’d be able to do. And, you’re going to want to check out these 5 things during your next Disney vacation!
Put Your Face on a Cup of Coffee
Coffee in Disney World is basically another form of magic on its own. And, our FAVORITE spot to grab a cup or two is over at Joffrey’s Coffee! While you can find kiosks located throughout the parks, the Disney Springs location lets you put your own selfie on your next coffee! Joffrey’s features special Latte Art, where guests can have designs featured after different characters and more printed on their foam.
But, the strangest (and coolest) option at the coffee shop is the ability to put your own face on your coffee for only an extra 50 cents! And, we’re sure your Instagram feed will be all that much cuter with a photo of your selfie latte art from Joffrey’s.
Go Mining for Some Gems
Although you can head through the gem mines on the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, you can actually sing “Heigh Ho” as you mine for REAL gems at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Lodge. Over at the Assay Station near the Meadow Pool and Bike Barn, you can actually go digging for treasure! You’ll want to head over to the Bike Barn first to buy a bag of mining rough enriched with real gemstones.
After you place the rough in a screen bottom box, you’ll want to dip it in the sluice and watch your gemstones appear! We’re sure the Seven Dwarfs might want to recruit you for their next mining expedition after proving your gem-finding abilities.
Have a Blast Fishing
Sometimes your family members might want to take a break from the parks. And, you can go for an especially unique excursion with Disney’s guided fishing tours. There are boats meant for various party sizes, whether you’re on a tournament-style boat for one to two people or larger cruiser for up to five guests. Two and four hour excursions are available that include and experienced guide, rod and reel, tackle, and artificial or live bait.
The marinas at several locations offer this feature, including: Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Old Key West Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, and Disney’s Yacht Club Resort.
You can make advance reservations by calling 407-939-2277, and be sure to check with your resort of choice ahead of time for any possible changes! Keep in mind fishing in Disney World is catch-and-release so everyone in your party can enjoy the excursion!
Take Part in Archery Like Merida!
If you’ve ever wanted to “shoot fer yer own hand” like Merida, then Disney’s Fort Wilderness has just the experience for you! The Fort Wilderness Archery Experience is available for guests 7 years and older as they learn how to hold and fire a compound bow.
The 75-minute sessions are available in the afternoon for groups limited to only 10 guests. And, we’re sure you can show off what a boss you are with your shooting skills!
The archery experience is available for $45 per person as you learn basic skills or practice the techniques you already know! You can call 407-WDW-PLAY to book spots for your whole family!
Find Sculptures… Made of SWEETS!
There are so many sights, sounds, and smells in Disney World that make it home for us. And, even though there are plenty sweets you can find around the parks to eat, you can take a look at detailed sculptures made out your favorite treats at the resorts too!
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort’s bakery team hand-crafted sculptures from chocolate that feature designs inspired by characters, attractions, movies, and more.
Of course, there are plenty of other unique and bizarre things you can do around the parks and resorts! A few options aren’t available to guests right now, but you can still have experiences that make amazing memories whenever you’re in Disney World. And, you can stay tuned with All Ears to see all the other new Disney entertainment and news coming soon!
