We’ve only made it through episode one of Loki, and we’re already seeing a whole lot of clues about what could be in store for the future.

But, before the next episode debuts, you’re going to want to know about these 4 fan theories that could change the way you’re watching the show!

The TVA Fixed Avengers: Endgame

Viewers were a little bit thrown by the fact that the Infinity Stones (you know, the things that defined the entire fate of the universe?) were being used as paper weights at the Time Variance Authority. The headquarters literally had a whole drawer full of them, which made us feel pretty upset knowing so many of our favorite heroes sacrificed their lives for them. Oh, and might we just jog your memory that LOKI himself was one of them? Yeah, awkward.

Since the TVA can basically fix any timeline that isn’t going to plan, it would only make sense that they would get involved in the Avengers’ business. Even though Doctor Strange had to predict over 14 million outcomes, the TVA most likely had a heavy hand in fixing the bumps in the road to ensure the “Sacred Timeline” would come to fruition. In all honesty, there could have been other possibilities for success. But, the TVA didn’t like all the other parts of those specific outcomes, so they tweaked the game to make sure the one they deemed as the “best” outcome was the ONLY outcome worth pursuing.

That means they could have changed which outcomes Doctor Strange was able to see, erasing the other timelines that could have existed. And, these other timelines could have been just as beneficial, maybe allowing more Avengers to survive in the end. We may never know (or perhaps Loki will dive into that idea), but we can say that it has us rethinking the entirety of the Marvel Cinematic Universe at this point.

Was everything that happened just a part of the TVA’s plot to hold onto the Sacred Timeline they approved of? Is the Sacred Timeline actually a reality or just a stronghold of the TVA’s power?

A Multiversal War Could Be Coming

When Loki explains the Sacred Timeline, it breaks down how this specific line of events came to be. The audience is told that “Long ago, there was a vast multiversal war. Countless unique timelines battled each other for supremacy, nearly resulting in the total destruction of, well, everything. … Stepping off your path created a nexus event which, left unchecked, could branch off into madness, leading to another multiversal war.”

But, that isn’t the first time we’ve heard the nexus term. Wanda was noted to be a Nexus Being in WandaVision as she took up her role as a Scarlet Witch. Now, you might be able to consider the entirety of the hex she created to be one form of a nexus event (but it seems to be approved by the TVA, since they weren’t involved in fixing it). Yet, the events stemming from the Evil Variant Loki are causing the Sacred Timeline to be altered once again. And, this means that a “multiverse of madness” could be on the way, leading into the next Doctor Strange film.

That means the events taking place in Loki may not be able to be cleaned up by the TVA. Instead, Spider-Man: No Way Home will touch base on the multiverse that has been ripped open before Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness fully dives into the consequences of these alternate timelines. Even more, if the events in Loki ARE fixed and the Sacred Timeline is restored, Wanda has been predicted to cause an apocalypse.

And, she clearly has the power to cause a nexus event that could shake up the universe as we know it (along with various other multiverses). If that’s the case, a war could be on the horizon as evils that we’ve never seen before are unleashed.

It’s All a Hoax

The TVA can feel a little bit sketchy, if you think about how much power they’re claiming to hold. It conveniently wraps everything up in a neat bow, leaving no room to argue with what the Sacred Timeline should look like. And, that could means that there is no Sacred Timeline at all. As a matter of fact, the TVA could be making changes that only suits its motives without a need to actually play by any real rules.

Since Kang the Conqueror will be making a debut in the next Ant-Man and the Wasp film, there are even fans that believe the time traveler has something to do with the TVA. There could be figures working inside the TVA as followers of Kang’s, where no true Time Keepers exist and the agents may even be “repurposed” variants.

There’s even the possibility that Nightmare could be involved in some capacity, considering the fact that the show hinted slightly at his involvement.

We just hope that Mobius isn’t super sketchy, because he seems like a pretty decent dude (or maybe that’s just Owen Wilson being himself).

The TVA’s Got More Sinister Intentions

Alright, this theory was going to come up sooner or later. But, the TVA may not be as nice as it seems. After the first multiversal war happened, the TVA basically took over to find timelines that weren’t going according to plan. So, if variants or other threats appeared, the Time Keepers could snuff them out to make sure the Sacred Timeline stayed true. Yet, the TVA could have too much power, making them hungry for a hold over existence in general.

The situations they don’t think threaten their own power — AKA the Avengers using the Infinity Stones to reverse the Blip — are deemed as acceptable. But, the variants that could gain power (maybe even more than the TVA) are problematic. And, the Loki that we’re seeing is the same one who wanted to rule Midgard and the rest of the nine realms. So, does that mean the “evil” Loki who destroys Time Keepers is actually evil? Perhaps not. This Loki variant could have realized the hidden, more sinister intentions of the TVA.

Eventually, the Loki that we’re seeing now could meet with the other Loki variant to take down the TVA from the inside. Of course, this would cause even MORE madness to break out, which would propel us into the next shows and films to come to the MCU.

We know that that’s a LOT of information to take into consideration. We’re only on the first episode after all! There’s still plenty of time for additional theories to come to light as we figure out exactly what’s happening in Loki.
