PHOTOS & VIDEO: The PeopleMover Was Evacuated in Disney World Today

Disney World rides have a LOT of moving parts, so it’s not uncommon that they run into issues from time to time.

The PeopleMover has had a rough year!

We’ve seen malfunctioning animatronics more than once, but Disney tries to keep things fresh by refurbishing popular attractions every once in a while. One Magic Kingdom ride just came out of a lengthy refurbishment, but it looks like it’s still having some big issues!

Today, we were riding the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover in Magic Kingdom when we started to experience some technical difficulties. The ride kept starting and stopping — moving for about 10-15 seconds at a time and then halting again.

We got stuck!

After a few times of this happening, our ride vehicle stopped completely, and we sat for a little while before an intercom message warned us to stay seated and that a Cast Member would be coming to assist us shortly.

Cast Members coming to the rescue!

From that vantage point, we noticed that other guests were being evacuated from other parts of the track, so we figured something was coming soon for us as well. Sure enough, we were escorted off the ride not long after!

We weren’t the only ones having problems.

Here’s a video of our experience:

We’ll make sure to keep you updated on any news we receive about this closure. After the PeopleMover was closed for more than a year, we hoped that it could survive a while without any snafus, but things happen. Never a dull day at Disney World!
