runDisney Reveals Theme for the 2021 Virtual Summer Race Series!

Whether you’re a dedicated Disney runner or Disney is the only reason you would ever head out the door to exercise, runDisney hosts some highly-themed races throughout the year to get Disney fans running.

And, one of their annual traditions is the Virtual 5K Race Series where you can run a 5k (or up to three) at home to earn a finishers medal! Last year, the series was themed after three iconic Disney rides and runDisney has announced its new theme for 2021!

This year, runDisney will be celebrating six years of the virtual race series with medals themed after the many iterations of Disney’s The Lion King. There are three different 5Ks (3.1 miles) that you can sign up for — or, if you sign up for them all, you’ll get an extra medal for completing the Virtual Series Challenge! So, let’s take a closer look at what you’ll be running to earn!

If you’re a fan of the classic Disney animated movie, then you might want to log your 3.1 miles for the medal featuring Simba front and center! This one is called “The Timeless Classic” when you register.

The Broadway version of The Lion King is also featured on its very own 5K metal! You can run to earn a medal with Simba in his Broadway form as part of “The Broadway Phenomenon” race.

And, you can’t forget about the live-action version of Disney’s The Lion King! “The Reimagined Classic” 5K medal features the iconic opening scene with baby Simba being presented to the animal kingdom!

Run all three as part of the Virtual Challenge and receive a bonus medal featuring Rafiki’s drawing of Simba from the movie!

Registration for all of the 5K races opens on Thursday, April 8th at 10AM ET. These virtual races can sell out fast, so be sure you’ve got your alarm set to run for these collectible runDisney medals!
