This past week, there have been two shark bite incidents in Indian River County, where Vero Beach Resort is located.

Newsweek has reported that a man has been bitten by a shark at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort. One visitor, 45-year-old David Cabrera, saw the injured man emerge from the water with bleeding wounds on his feet. There was about a three-to-four inch “slice,” as well as another smaller cut, as described by Cabrera.

The man later became faint, most likely from shock. Cabrera and the lifeguards didn’t see the shark responsible. Erik Toomsoo, the president of the Vero Beach Lifeguard Association, noted that the majority of shark attacks occur in the spring and summer since the weather is warmer.
