Disney World is in the middle of a big technology shift when it comes to park tickets.
At the beginning of 2021, Disney stopped offering complimentary MagicBands for all Disney World Hotel guests to make way for a mobile-friendly technology experience throughout the park. Instead of using MagicBands (though they’re still making plenty of those), MagicMobile will turn your iPhone, Apple Watch, or other smart devices into your ticket to the parks. And, it looks like the new technology is already being phased into the My Disney Experience app.
Now, the Disney MagicMobile Pass can be found on the menu screen alongside other planning tools in the My Disney Experience app.
When you click on the option, it is listed as “Coming Soon” but lets you get a peek into what the new program will look like on your phone! Once the feature is fully functioning, you will be able to scan the mobile device at the entry kiosks to enter the theme parks and add Disney PhotoPass images to your account.
The new option in the app also has some “Quick Pass Tips” to help you prepare to use the app. You’ll be able to utilize “Express Mode” which won’t require you to unlock your phone near Disney touchpoints. Plus, when you have tickets added to your Apple Wallet, you’ll just need to double click or hold your finger on the home button to redeem your friend’s and family’s passes.
All you’ll need to start using the MagicMobile Pass once it is active is current park tickets linked to your My Disney Experience account! And, if you simply can’t part with your MagicBands, Disney has said that guests will be able to utilize MagicMobile and MagicBands interchangeably throughout their stay! I know it’s eventually coming to my Android operating system phone, but sure wish Disney would roll out the MagicMobile Pass at the same time as they do it for the iOS.
Can’t wait to try it, but sure will miss my magic band, which I’m sure will go away sometime in the future.
