NEWS: Winter Storms Cause Disneyland’s Vaccination Site to Temporarily Close

In early January, Disneyland Resort announced that they would be serving as a COVID-19 vaccine distribution center. And, the site opened a few days later.

Since opening, the site has vaccinated over 100,000 people in the Toy Story parking lot. But, currently, winter storms are inhibiting the site’s ability to continue operations.

According to NBC Los Angeles, the Disneyland vaccination site closed yesterday, February 18th, and isn’t expected to open until Monday, February 22nd at the earliest. The closure is due to inclement weather on the East Coast that has caused significant delays in the shipping of the vaccine.

The site has primarily administered the Moderna vaccine and storms in Michigan and Massachusetts caused the shipments not to arrive as anticipated. Roughly 12,500 people are impacted by this closure, all needing to reschedule their vaccination appointment.

Disneyland Health and Safety Measures

Disneyland will not be administering the Moderna vaccine for much longer, however. Orange County officials plan to open a new vaccination site at the Anaheim Convention Center that will administer the Moderna vaccine, transitioning the Disneyland site to the Pfizer vaccine beginning February 24th.

We’ll keep an eye out for more information on this location and other Disney health and safety measures, so stay tuned.
