Florida is experiencing a relentless uptick in positive COVID-19 cases across the state.

On December 1st, we reported that Florida surpassed 1 million cases. The vaccine was distributed to the first group of individuals later in the month and will continue to be delivered as hospitals receive the doses. However, the positive cases have increased and Florida has reached a new record daily high.
It’s been reported by Orlando Sentinel that Florida’s COVID-19 cases reached 17, 192 today alone. This brings the total number of cases to 1,323,315 in Florida. The fatality rate rose to 21, 673 as well. Thursday’s report surpassed the highest increase of cases since the height of the global health crisis in July. The peak of which reached 15, 300 cases last summer.

The state of Florida has a population of about 21.5 million residents. This means that one in 16 people have been affected. Orlando Sentinel compares this number to one in 17 nationally and one in 94 worldwide. While the numbers have increased, no new health mandates have been implemented at this time.
