Although Isaias originally strengthened into a hurricane, the storm has been downgraded to a tropical storm recently.
As the storm has moved from the Caribbean to the coast of Florida, Tropical Storm Isaias has caused rain, heavy winds, and possible beach erosion.
While the tropical storm hasn’t strengthened back into a hurricane overnight like originally predicted, Orlando Sentinel has stated that Tropical Storm Isaias still has 65 miles per hour winds.
The National Hurricane Center reported that the storm was located 45 miles east-southwest of Vero Beach and 90 miles southwest of Cape Canaveral at 2 PM EST. As the storm moves northwest towards Florida’s east coast, the weather effects are still expected to bring 25 to 30 miles per hour winds in Orlando with gusts at 39 miles per hour or more along the coast.
Central Florida will most likely see 2 to 4 inches of rain, while the coast will receive 6 inches. Many of the counties along Florida’s coast as well as the rest of the East Coast have been under tropical storm warnings as a safety measure.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has made emergency provisions ready ahead of the tropical storm’s arrival along the coast. As Tropical Storm Isaias continues to move up the East Coast, we’ll keep you updated on everything you need to know!
