Calm Nights at Walt Disney World

One of my favorite photography things to do at Walt Disney World is to linger late into the night in one of the parks with camera, tripod and the beauty of a still evening.

Expedition Everest Calm Night
Expedition: EVEREST from the outside dining area of the Flame Tree Barbecue restaurant in Disney’s Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World, Orlando, Florida. Nikon D750/16-35VR, 30s, f/16, ISO 200, EV 0, 26mm Focal Length, Tripod.

Behind the Flame Tree BBQ in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, there is a seating area which overlooks this scene of Expedition EVEREST. Using a tripod, I carefully focused on the lights in the seating area.  Set my camera to an Aperture of f/16 to get everything in focus from the reflection in the water to Everest’s purple lighted profile. The long exposure of 30 seconds smoothed out the water.

Plaza Restaurant Calm Night
The Plaza Restaurant at night on Main Street USA at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, Orlando, Florida. Nikon D700/28-300VR, 4s, f/16, ISO 200, EV 0, 70mm Focal Length, Tripod.

The Plaza Restaurant in the Magic Kingdom at night is beautifully lighted including the patio on the water. in this case, there was enough light to use an exposure of 4 seconds at f/16.

As busy as the parks can get, staying late and seeing them so quiet, is very calming.

Have you ever stayed late at a Disney park?
