Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings has announced that Disney World, as well as SeaWorld, will present their reopening plans to the Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force tomorrow, May 27th at 10AM EST.

These plans, which will lay out the guidelines and protocols to keep employees and guests safe, are also required to include a proposed reopening date. If the Task Force and Mayor Demings approves the plans, they will then be passed on to Governor Ron DeSantis’ office for his approval.
Mayor Demings noted that he anticipates their presentations to resemble the sort of presentation given last week by Universal Orlando, when they announced their proposed and subsequently approved reopening of June 5th for the general public.

Demings also mentioned that he was able to preview both Disney and SeaWorld’s plans this morning, but would not provide any additional details. Demings said that “we’re looking forward to sharing good news about their plans.”

It was noted that, “In preparation, an Orange County Inspection team visited SeaWorld and Walt Disney today” to make sure both resorts were in compliance with their proposed guidelines. These groups included Orange County officials as well as the county’s Department of Health.

After Demings’ announcement, Disney followed up with the following statement, posted on the Disney Parks News Twitter.

Stay tuned tomorrow morning for the latest announcements from Disney World, including what we anticipate will be a proposed reopening date for the theme parks.

I plan on visiting but will cancel if a mask is mandatory
I’m going on my birthday with a lot of people where should I eat??
I was going in July with my grandkids and daughter in law. However we are very worried about a lot of shows not being open (if rumors are true) no fireworks or parades. We understand, but we may postpone until things settle down. We have our meals and firework dining experience that will have to be cancelled. I sure hope that you will be able to have these items returned before the end of the year.
I had been planning my July 2020 family vacation for the last 18 months, but no….I’ll now be putting it off until next summer. It’s just too soon and too many unknowns.
Really hopeful for our July trip. The “phased” approach leaves me a little leery, but totally understand.
We have had a reservation for the first week in August since January. We are hoping everything will be open by then. If they open mid-June, maybe all the issues will be worked out by Aug. I think it will be a great time to go. Fewer people means shorter lines. I honestly don’t think masks will be required in August. Optional but not required.
Have been an annual pass holder since 1990’s, but will not fly or visit Disney until you don’t need a mask
Yes! I do understand why they are doing a phased opening, but as long as there will be masks, we will hold off our visit. We currently rescheduled our March visit to March of 2021. We will change again if necessary.
