We just announced that Disney Springs is set to begin a phased re-opening starting on May 20th. This is the first domestic re-opening on Disney property since its closure in March, and comes shortly after news broke that Shanghai Disneyland would be re-opening on May 11th.

However, this phased re-opening may come with modified experiences and capacity, according to Disney. In addition to Disney Springs, guests may expect these limitations throughout the resort as Disney World gears up for its resort-wide re-opening, a date for which has not yet been announced.
In Disney’s announcement regarding the shopping and dining district beginning its phased re-opening, they stated that “Disney Springs will have limitations on capacity, parking, and operating hours.” While there are currently no specifics on what those limitations will include, or how reduced their capacity will be, it’s clear that Disney is taking a very gradual approach in their reopening.

To emphasize this point, Disney has also indicated on their website that “Upon reopening, theme parks, Disney Resort hotels, restaurants, attractions, experiences, and other offerings may be modified and will be limited in capacity and subject to limited availability or closure, based on direction from health experts and government officials to promote physical distancing.” It seems like this could be a fluid situation in terms of what exactly is available in the future.

To reiterate our previous post, the initial phase in the Disney Springs re-opening process will include only a limited number of third-party shopping and dining experiences. There is currently no list on exactly which third-party shops or dining experiences will take part in this May 20th opening.

We may expect to hear from Disney again before its initial re-opening on May 20th. Their statement goes on to say, “As May 20 gets closer, please check this page for the most current information on operating hours, locations and safety procedures.” We will continue to monitor these policies as they develop!
