It’s been years in the making, and today, Skyliner officially opened its gondola doors to welcome guests aboard this newest form of transportation at Walt Disney World!
The crowds were ready to take to the skies on the bespoke Skyliner system, and we spotted lines at Caribbean Beach Resort, Epcot’s International Gateway, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, with excited guests boarding the system up to 15 minutes before Park opening. (Official operating times have yet to be added to DisneyWorld.com, but we’ll bring them to you as soon as they are!)
On Friday, Disney held a dedication ceremony for Skyliner at the system’s Caribbean Beach Resort station. The ceremony included a bevy of characters, a display of fireworks, and lots of cast members ready to take to flight!
And on Sunday morning — bright and early — Skyliner began operations at four of its five stations: Art of Animation and Pop Century Resorts, Caribbean Beach Resorts, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Epcot’s International Gateway. (Riviera Resort’s station will open with the Resort on December 16, and guests traveling to Epcot will pass through the Resort’s station without stopping for now.)
Despite the lines we saw at Hollywood Studios, Epcot, and Caribbean Beach Resort, wait times remained around five minutes during our morning check-in.

Rode them on opening day. I was concerened about the airflow, but they were surprisingly cool. Not sure about them in July or August, but they were really nice.
Can you tell me if the new Skyliner cars are air conditioned, I’ve hear thwart aren’t! Thank you!
Hi Cheryl! The Skyliner gondolas are not air conditioned. Check out our first flight post – there are photos of the vents and we discuss how we felt temperature-wise during our ride: http://allears.net/2019/09/24/first-flight-photos-from-our-first-ride-on-disney-worlds-new-skyliner-system/
can you update the maps under the hotels these are servicing to show where this is in within the hotel area so those that are not able to walk as far can plan their stay at the hotels.
Thank you.
