Disney Pic of the Week – Princesses

Light Meter by Lisa K. Berton

Little girls admire Disney princesses and want to be just like them when they grow up. A good number of them point out they can live without the step-mother from hell, devious witch serpeants, curses, villains, and such. It’s the fairy tale love story they want and the various dresses, gowns, and shoes, of course.

Princesses can be found in all Disney parks. For example, Jasmine co-stars in a musical at Disney’s California Adventure. Ariel meets with people walkin’ around on feet at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World.

In an effort to capitalize on this youthful wish, Disney has made merchandise featuring Jasmine, Cinderella, Ariel, Pocahontas, Snow White, Belle, Tiana, Mulan, and Aurora aka Briar Rose aka Sleeping Beauty. Child, pick an identity! Princess Telephones, Princess Chairs, Princess Bandages, Princess Cookies, Princess Rugelach, Princess Toothpaste, Princess Cameras, Princess Shirts, Princess Lip Balm, Princess Vegetable Peelers, etc, etc…

Every so dainty, Snow White looks into the well at the Germany pavilion in Epcot and encourages her little princess-in-training to make a wish.

I threw in 20 bucks and wished for Hercules. The Magic Mirror called me a fool because there’s no Greece pavilion.

Princess Shoelaces, Princess Cake, Princess Magnets, Princess Toothpicks, Princess Bowling Balls, Princess Stationery, Princess Socks, Princess Wallpaper, Princess Do-It-Yourself Tax Return, Princess Televisions, Princess Dolls, Princess Coloring Books, Princess Greeting Cards, Princess Puppies, etc…etc…

Come back Thursday & Saturday for Princess Barrie and Prince Scott’s photos.

  1. Once upon a time, in a theme park called MGM Studios, in a hot day of August I found Hercules and Megara…first and last time I saw them signing autographs…this story doesn’t have a happy ending!! I want Hercules too!!!

Lisa responds: I saw them there years ago, as well. I tried to get Megara to take the photo of Herc and I. 😀
