What’s a Disney race weekend without the opportunity to enjoy a little food? And some adult beverages, too. 🙂 One of the things I was looking forward to on this trip was the opportunity to sample foods from the food booths at Epcot’s Flower and Garden (aka mini Food and Wine) Festival. Lee and I … Continue reading "2016 WDW Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend – Part 3 – The Food"
2016 WDW Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend – Part 2
Posted onA long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away… Sunday, April 17 – Half Marathon The half marathon was scheduled to start at 5:00, rather than the usual 5:30. Even though we knew that, the alarm going off at 2:15 was still a shock. The buses started running at 2:30, but we were driving, … Continue reading "2016 WDW Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend – Part 2"
2016 WDW Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend – Part 1
Posted onA long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away… But really, it was only last summer that runDisney announced a new Star Wars Half Marathon weekend to be held in Florida in April, 2016. But this one would have a Dark Side theme. All of the usual races: Kids Races, 5K, 10K, half marathon, … Continue reading "2016 WDW Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend – Part 1"
2016 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend – Part 3 – Dining
Posted onI was able to dine at a number of new (to me) places on this trip and had some really good experiences. I started off my trip staying at the Polynesian Villas and Bungalows. On the first night there I went to Captain Cook’s. I wasn’t very hungry but I thought the Pho Noodle Bowl … Continue reading "2016 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend – Part 3 – Dining"
2016 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend – Part 2
Posted onSunday, February 21 – Disney Princess Half Marathon Up at 2:45, left the room about 3:30. No problem getting to the Epcot parking lot – we were actually parked one row closer than we were the day before. This time we had bags (our running belts) that needed to be checked, but that was very … Continue reading "2016 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend – Part 2"
2016 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend – Part 1
Posted onTime to head back to Walt Disney World for the 2016 Princess Half Marathon Weekend. This is the 8th year for this event, and the third year for the Glass Slipper Challenge. My fifth time running the half marathon, and third year for the GSC. I really enjoy this event, even though I don’t care … Continue reading "2016 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend – Part 1"
2016 Disneyland Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend – Part 4 – Dining
Posted onDuring our three days at Disneyland for the Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend, we tried a few different dining options. We (gasp!) did not have any meals at our usual pre-race favorite, Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta! Friday evening we were tired after a long week at work, driving in traffic to Anaheim, visiting the Expo, … Continue reading "2016 Disneyland Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend – Part 4 – Dining"
2016 Disneyland Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend – Part 2, 10K and Kids Races
Posted onJanuary 16, 2016 – Star Wars 10K 3:30 came much too early, though I didn’t sleep much and was awake before 3:00. Doesn’t matter how many races I’ve done, I always get pre-race jitters. I wore the same Queen Amidala costume I made for last year’s 10K – I’m into recycling. The white makeup is … Continue reading "2016 Disneyland Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend – Part 2, 10K and Kids Races"
2016 Disneyland Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend – Part 1
Posted onJanuary 2016 – time for the second annual Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend at Disneyland. I thought last year’s inaugural event was an unqualified success so I was interested in seeing what changes they might make this year. I’m happy to report that it was still a great event, and has firmly solidified its position … Continue reading "2016 Disneyland Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend – Part 1"
2015 Avengers Half Marathon Weekend – Part 2
Posted onToday our costumes were Princess Captain America (finally able to wear my tiara again!) and Hawkeye. Same costumes we wore last year, but why mess with a good thing? Unlike last year, this year there were actually two people who recognized that I was Princess Captain America. Lee's Hawkeye costume got most of the attention, though. There weren't too many Hawkeyes out there, plus he looked really good (though I told him he was smiling too much. ;-) )
