This was our first meal at Skipper Canteen, but it will not be the last. We ate there last week. I had the whole fried fish - nicely fried and flavored. My wife had the sustainable fish "not piranha." It also was excellent. I have already recommended the specific items and the restaurant in general to some friends. The price may be a bit off as I did not add tax & tip, and used TIW for a discount.
Pros:
Good service, great foodCons:

I was nervous about staying here (we are used to Boardwalk Villas and Beach Club Villas, which are more centrally located), but we really enjoyed our stay! The cast members were by far the friendliest and most cheerful we've ever seen at any resort. We had one small hiccup on arrival day - when I called Bell Services to have our carry-on bags delivered, I also told them I had a Garden Grocer order - when they came, they only delivered the luggage. The guy said he'd bring the GG order the next time he was on our floor - but couldn't tell when that would be, so I ended up going down and getting it myself (using my mom's walker to carry everything). The other odd thing was that we had a handicap accessible 2 BR villa. I was expecting the master bath to have the accessible shower, but there was a 6" step up. The bathroom attached to the 2nd bedroom had the accessible shower - not a big deal, but it just struck me as odd.

After reading a lot of positive reviews, I changed our Be Our Guest dinner to Jiko for our final night, and I am so glad I did! My filet was cooked to perfection, and the asparagus and tomatoes that came with it were also delicious - the only thing I didn't like was the mac & cheese side that came with it. My mom had the maize crusted halibut and the portion was HUGE! She's very fussy when it comes to how her fish is cooked (it needs to be thoroughly done all the way through), and she said this was perfect. All my dad wanted was a lobster tail, which was on the menu as an "enhancement" - I was going to add it on to my filet order, but the server let him order that on its own. I also had a very good Cabernet with my dinner - I wish I could remember the name, but it's the one recommended with the filet on the menu.
Pros:
The server was very knowledeable and the food was deliciousCons:

This used to be a must-do every trip. but when they changed to the sukiyaki rice a couple of years ago, we skipped it our last two trips. We decided to try it again, after I heard they still had steamed rice - all you had to do was ask for it. But I was pleasantly surprised to see that they brought back the steamed rice as the standard! I had the steak and chicken and both were cooked perfectly. My mom had the scallops, which she said were the best she's ever had, and my dad had the filet, which he also enjoyed. The veggies were great as well. This has now been added back to our "every trip" list
Pros:
Good food; funny chef; they brought back the steamed riceCons:

I have been hearing people talk about the bread service, and it did not disappoint. There were only 3 of us, but I think we could have just had this as our meal and been satisfied. I ended up eating only half of my entrée - my mom and I both had the butter chicken and paneer tikka, which was also very good, but we were too full from the bread. My dad did the smart thing and just had the soup - tomato with paneer on top. At first he ate around the paneer, but ended up eating most of if. He said the soup was very good.

I made an ADR here for our arrival day because they have clam strips on the menu, which my mom really likes, but has a hard time finding. She had the clam strip bucket, and there were so many, she couldn't finish. I had the coconut shrimp bucket, and the shrimp were HUGE - they must have been 2" x 2". I really liked the orange/chilli dipping sauce too. My dad had the panko fried fish and sad it was really good. We all liked it so much, we went back a second time later in the trip. Dad and I repeated our orders, while mom did the coconut shrimp this time. This has replaced Raglan Road as our Disney Springs restaurant of choice.

I usually get the spaghetti and meatballs here, but on our spring trip, my mom had the lunch special, which was chicken marsala and tortellini. She let me try some of both, and it was so good, I was really looking forward to having a full plate of my own when we came back in October. I was so happy to see they were still offering it, and it did not disappoint. Our server was very knowledgeable about the food and recommended a great Sauvignon Blanc, which we enjoyed.

My husband and I spent 3 nights here last month. We were excited to try the "new" resort and slightly surprised our CC room was really just a WL room rebranded. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our stay here. The room was very nice - king size bed, sleeper sofa and kitchenette. The bathroom decor and fixtures were very nicely done. There is very little "Disneyness" in the room, which for an adult getaway for us was fine. However, families looking to be overwhelmed with hidden Mickeys any characters everywhere may be a little disappointed. The pool are was terrific with lots of lounge chairs, a nice changing room and plenty of space. We also enjoyed the new pool lounge area. We will definitely look to stay here again.
