Stayed Jan.15-17,2013 with family of 4. Loved that it was such a short walk to either Disneyland or DCA! Free breakfast was wonderful! View while eating breakfast was amazing, you could see the monorail and parks. Staff was very helpful. Would stay here again rather than having such a long walk to Paradise Pier.

Pros:

location,location,location

Cons:

Review of Chip and Dale Harvest Feast at The Garden Grill

One member of our group called this the best meal of the trip, as far as food. I wouldn't go that far, but I did quite enjoy the food. Honestly though, for me this restaurant is about the characters. The last time I had been there it was a later reservation and the characters were in high form; Chip and Dale were fighting with Pluto, moving chairs, throwing straws and basically being silly and funny. This time the characters were much more subdued, but they're still fun to see.

Always a restaurant we try to visit.

Pros:

Good food, great characters

Food Court: Nice selection, especially the grab & go section. If you're eating healthy there is milk (skim, 1%, whole), fruit (apples, bananas, clementines, grapes), yogurt, veggies & hummus, veggies and dip. Good waffles, potatoes, and bacon in the morning. The eggs were the only thing that weren't edible. We were there during a non-busy time, and the food courts were always packed for breakfast. It might be worthwhile to get cereal/fruit/etc. the night before and keep it in your fridge if it is busy. The food courts were fine during lunch.

Boatwrights: AWESOME. We ate there twice. Abita beer on tap, delicious crawfish bites, salad, mac & cheese, cornbread.

River Roost Lounge: Again, Abita on tap (get the flight of 3 beers). Awesome lounge snacks--try the sliders. YeeHaw Bob wasn't really for us (we're in our 30s) but lots of others seemed entertained. He starts at 8:30 Wed through Sat if you want to hear his show (or not).

Bus stops: We never waited more than 10 minutes for a bus at the resort or the parks. The South Depot has a TON of people, so we walked a little extra to the West depot.

Rooms: Awesome! We stayed in Alligator Bayou in a king room. We were put in a preferred building (#14) without paying the preferred price. 🙂 Loved the bed--very comfy.

Overall: This resort is gorgeous, and we liked it more than Animal Kingdom. Definitely recommended!

Pros:

Quiet, beautiful, nice rooms, Abita beer on tap!

Cons:

Crowded food court at breakfast, potentially long walks depending on your building

My family of 6 and my parents, brother and his family stayed 5 nights recently and were very disappointed in a few things about this resort. Our suites were in the cars section (about as far away from buses and dining as possible). The theming was excellent and my four sons loved seeing their favorite characters from Cars.

We got to the resort about 1:30 and our rooms were not ready yet. About an hour later my mom got a text that their room was ready, so we all went to their room so the kids could get ready to swim while we waited on our room. Mousekeeping was cleaning the room next door. We supposed this would be ours, so we checked frequently to see when they were done. The cm's that were working did not seem to be in a hurry at all and our room was not ready until 3:45. This pushed us quite a bit getting to our 5:15 dinner reservation.

The suite was laid out well and fitted our family. I can see how 6 adults would not be comfortable, though. We absolutely loved the shower in the master! We are even talking about trying to do something similar in our house! One complaint we had about the room is that each evening when we got back to the room with 4 tired kids, the beds would be put back into the table and the couch. So, we would have to lay the kids on the big bed until we could get the beds fixed again. It would be nice if they would just leave them in the bed position once they are out. We didn't use the dining table at all.

Our biggest problems with the resort were the size of the resort and the bus transportation. I will say that we are a little spoiled as far as the size goes, we have stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter the last 3 trips and love how small and quaint it is. No matter where your room is, it is not far to bus stop, dining, or parking lot. This is not the case at AoA, everything is a hike.

The bus transportation was a nightmare. We know that the bus system is not perfect, but it is supposed to be a service not a hindrance. Most every return trip to the resort was an incredible wait, but one night in particular was a nightmare. We had late reservations at Be Our Guest and were leaving an hour after fireworks and park closing. We expected some wait at the bus stop, but when we arrived the line was out of the queue and we waited for 40 minutes to get on a bus with 6 six tired children in our group. While we waited we noticed that the other bus stops were empty or there were only a few people in line. This was unacceptable and my mother complained to management. The manager on duty was kind and apologetic, but confessed that this is a continuing problem and she does not understand why they can not get it resolved.

We really enjoyed the theming of the resort and that we all fit in one room. But the problems are not worth it. We will not stay here again!

Pros:

Theme and suites

Cons:

Size of resort, transportation, and service

When checking in for my 8:30PM reservations, I was informed that they no longer accept Tables in Wonderland. This makes me mad since I was not informed of that before. We were seated two tables away from the windows, so the view of Illuminations was not good. My husband and I ordered the taco trio appetizer, when it came out it was very cold. I asked the waitress if it was supposed to be served cold and she said "NO" and got the manager. The manager came to our table and said I couldn't get sick from cold food and we weren't charged for them.

Pros:

nice view of lake

Cons:

cold food

We visited the park on October 31st, during the day. It wasn't my first time in the park, but it was my first, and last, time to eat here. We were seated quickly, but had to wait 15 minutes for a drink order. I had heard about the fried pickles so we ordered those at the same time. Five minutes went by and then our waitress came back to take our orders. There here is the way it played out next. Our main dishes came out about 10 minutes later, then our drinks. Right as we were done our appetizer came out. Our waitress was never seen again and drinks never were refilled. I found someone who was equivalent to a manager and advised what had just happened. We did try to get someone to help us during the meal but I guess they couldn't handle all 20 people in the restaurant at the same time. They comped the meal, said they were sorry and not to leave any tip as "this was not the Disney service you deserve". They were sincere in the apology and I left better than I did during my dinner.

Pros:

convenient

Cons:

limited menu, food quality, service

Review of Disneyland Hotel

My visit was 1/29/13 - 2/2/13. This was my first ever visit to Disneyland. I'd heard about the 2 1/2 year refurbishment and was anxious to see it. The new dark wood furniture looks great and the fireworks headboards are special. I watched mine every night! There are several options for breakfast at the hotel - Tangaroa Terrace was my favorite. Goofy's Kitchen is too expensive. Housekeeping was good and they started early. Once I came back to my room at 9:50AM to leave some shopping and the housekeeper was at my door, about to enter. I always had plenty of clean towels, tissue, etc. The H2O toiletries have a pleasant smell, but I still miss the Mickey shaped soap bars. Although housekeeping didn't do any washcloth animals for me, there was a class in the hotel lobby one morning for guests to learn to make them.

Pros:

entire hotel recently refurbished, close to Downtown Disney and monorail, excellent gift shop

Cons:

long walk to the parks

We happened to have a vacation planned that overlapped two different LTM weeks. The first week we got soup. We checked in after the Super Bowl parade, so all we got was soup at Cosmic Rays. I didn't much care for it and it really was kind of funny that was our LTM.

The next week was True Love Week. We were excited to meet the princes. However, apart from that and getting a picture in front of Cinderella's carriage, I don't know what else was going on. There is not enough notice of special events and the information is very limited. I didn't see much for special merchandise in the stores, other than a Valentine pin (and by Tuesday there were only a few left).

Pros:

meeting the princes

Cons:

not enough information or notice of LTM offerings

On the last day I discovered the kids meal which has buckwheat waffles, fruit, potatoes, and milk. Such a good value, and relatively healthy! The bounty platter was so-so. The bacon was thin and limp, and the eggs were not good. The grab and go section is great--milk (skim, 1%, whole), juices, beer & wine, fruit (grapes, tangerines, apples, bananas), veggies w/ dip or hummus, yogurt, etc. Seating is hard to come by, so send half your party to order food and the other half to scout out a table.

Pros:

Good kids meal, grab & go section

Cons:

Crowded, yucky eggs, wimpy bacon

The tuna sandwich was good, a big portion, and the house made chips were awesome. The po boys and beignets need help, but are still pretty good. (The beignets tasted like funnel cake, which we also like).

Pros:

Big portions, house made chips

Cons:

Beignets and Po Boys aren't the real deal (but still okay)
