Review of Chip and Dale Harvest Feast at The Garden Grill

We had no reservations here but took a chance. Arrived in The Land at approx. 7 and was given a 7:30 time to return. Got a little beeper and rode "the Land" and was beeped as the ride ended. Let me preface this by saying that my family are WDW experts and have had meals in every restaurant in both parks. We ate here about 30 years ago. During the day, when we are in The Land, this restaurant is always closed. What a wonderful surprise.

We are 2 adults and a 3 year old little girl. Deb was our waitress and was just adorable. Her hubby Steve, was also working there. We were introduced to the 4 older people next to us and we "sort of" conversed during the meal. We were at separate booths but close in proximity.

The meal was amazing. Everything was served Family style but was delicious. (unusual for Disney)...hot rolls with whipped honey butter came first, then a wonderful salad (all ingredients fresh and the dressing wonderful and served like Olive Garden salad) then a elongated platter with turkey breast over stuffing and gravy, fantastic tilapia w/some salsa that was ambrosia, finally tenderloin with a light sauce over very flavorful freshly mashed potatoes. Our little one had a chicken leg, mac and cheese, broccoli, and grapes. We shared our food with her, of course, Her dessert was an adorable cupcake wrapped in a parchment paper cone. NOW COMES the dessert. It was a cake baked in a round pan...looked so-so....BUT, it was heavenly....still hot, the crust was crusty which is my favorite, and it had a dollop of banana cinnamon whipped cream on top, and there was a hot center of thick and juicy blueberries...to die for!!!!

The part that we really appreciated was that the characters were so attentive. As the restaurant rotates, (so gradually that it's not felt but you do notice the scenery changing) Pluto, Mickey, Chip and Dale visit your table and sit with your child, hug them, let them touch them, and spend a good deal of time with them. Deb made sure that our little one saw each and every character and had her fill of them...hahahaha, (when does that ever happen?) They spent just as much time with the couples next to us. We laughed with the other family because my granddaughter was so tickled that she made me get teary eyed...the man next to us said that her excitement made their dinner worthwhile...and "worth" is my only negative comment...it is very expensive if you want a character dinner...but you don't eat at a sit down restaurant in WDW and not expect to blow a hundred dollars...which is what it came to. (we never needed any refills but you can have as much as you want)...including gratuity...and Deb certainly deserved it. It was a wonderful and fulfilling dining experience. I see negative comments and I'm flummoxed by them. My daughter, granddaughter, and I visit WDW twice a year and this will be my first reservation we make for our October visit. And we sat on the top (I really didn't know that there was a lower level). If you do decide to eat here, request Deb...she was so darned friendly and not sickening so. Genuine.

Pros:

everything

Cons:

very pricey

Review of Polynesian Village Resort (Deluxe Resort)

We stay here every year because of the close proximity to the monorail. We love the ambiance, the beach, the pool, the 'Ohana character breakfast, and the Kona Cafe. The beds are like sleeping on a cloud.

My complaint this time is with Cap't Cooks fast food restaurant. Everything is delicious. BUT!!! If all you go there for is a cookie, a bottle of water, and a Mickey Mouse ice cream bar, you must wait behind 20 people waiting to pay for their entire family's dinners, drinks, desserts, and beer....and there are only two people taking the various forms of payments...ex. dining plans, room keys, credit cards, cash. I only needed a bottle of water, apple juice box for my granddaughter ready for bed back in the room and would not sleep without her water. After waiting for 4 families with at least 10 checks to be paid, I spotted a shorter line in front of me, so I moved there. I waited for an elderly lady cashier (yes, I am older, too, and am sympathetic...but don't put me in a position of customer service where I can't see the keys of the register) to take 20 dollars from a customer, each and every wrinkled bill turned every which way and handed to her in a ball, to unfold, unwrinkle and turn in the proper direction, every single one dollar bill, before she would put the money in the drawer. Yes, the customer was inconsiderate to hand it to her like that, but just unfold it and put it in the drawer and worry about organizing it when you don't have 40 people with screaming babies waiting) MY BP went up to 400/200 while waiting there and my 63 year old hips and knees were throbbing from 3 days at the Magic Kingdom and Epcot. They need to install 4 more registers and younger English speaking people operating them..I love every ethnicity and soooo appreciate the fact that these people speak more languages than I do, but I had a very difficult time communicating with a few of them.

Pros:

location, beautiful grounds, restaurants, volcano pool

Cons:

Review of Art of Animation Resort (Value Resort)

Our family stayed at Art of Animation on Sunday, January 27th and left Friday, February 1st. We arrived around lunchtime and decided to eat at the Landscape of Flavors. Food was very good and the produce was fresh. After lunch, we checked in and even though we couldn't go to our rooms immediately. they advised that they would text me when it was ready. Enjoyed exploring the different sections. I was most impressed by the Cars section of the resort. We stayed in the Little Mermaid section (Building 9 on the 1st floor - yes!). Rooms were great for the time we were there. Discovered the refrigerator was part of the dresser so that made drawers limited but plenty of hangars did the trick for our clothes. Ate breakfast every morning at Landscapes of Flavor and was not disappointed. Loved the croissants! Would go back again tomorrow. Enjoyed the resort thoroughly!

Pros:

Everything

Cons:

Distance to room from the main lobby

Just got back from a trip during marathon weekend. My Wife ran the race and staying at a EPCOT resort was very convenient. She went to sleep early and I enjoyed the boardwalk entertainment. The Resort was using the new RFID keys. Had one issue where the maid threw out some water bottles I had and the front desk without question credited them to my account. Loved it and would stay again.

Pros:

Atmosphere, Cleanliness

We were in Disney Jan 27 - Feb 3 this year. We ate here twice, because it is always sooo good! When we went for lunch husband got the cashew chicken like normal which he loves and I got the turkey Montery jack on ciabatta which was really good. I was a little upset that they got rid of the reuben sandwich because that was my favorite but that's ok. We ate here for breakfast also and got the adult platter which is the norm every where and the breakfast Panini. The breakfast Panini was soooo good I wanted to get a second!
Oh and desserts, me and my husband love cheesecake so we always both get the cheesecake with berries which is amazing!

Pros:

food was great , deserts

We had a dinner reservation and were seated almost right then. We all had drinks at the bar before being seated at table. We were seated at same table as two years prior and we thought that was too funny. Our waitress was not attentive at all. Took her 20 mins to get us drinks. Never checked on us during the meal. We were on the Dining Plan and we asked for her to put bar drinks on second ticket since we had a group of 6 and not everyone had drinks. In doing this she someone how charged our dining card twice. Taking away 2 dinner credits instead of 1. Was a act of congress to get the points back on the card. We ate at 4 restaurants during our stay and at all four our service was female and were all terrible. Had to ask for drink refills, no one ever asked if we needed anything. Just so sad after just great prior experiences over years. But food however is always good!

Food

We ate here because my wife is a Vegan. As you can imagine eating can be a challenge at restaurants. The Mediterranean Sliders Combo was great and very filling. The only thing is there is no PB&J on the kids menu.

Pros:

Good Taste, Not a big crowd

Cons:

No kids food PB&J

Love, love, love 'Ohana! Best dinner of our trip. Even my picky eaters love the food at 'Ohana. All the meat was extremely tender and cooked to perfection. The dumplings, wings, salad, noodles and bread are amazing. The dessert is out of this world! Server was so-so. He wasn't very attentive and didn't have a good personality but the food and atmosphere totally made up for it! Can't wait to eat here again!

Pros:

Food, atmosphere

Cons:

We stayed here for the Tinkerbell Half. Loved the convenience of staying right by the start and finish line. We didn't go to the parks since it was a short weekend for the race only. Just my husband and I were traveling and it was perfect for us. We were just a short walk to Downtown where we had a few meals. The decor was very cute with a beachy theme. The pool was nothing spectacular but water was nice and area was clean. Our only complaint was that the walls seemed thin. We heard neighbors and people in the hallway during the day. The night was quiet though. I would stay here again. I must mention that we did rent a car and expected to pay the daily self-park fee. At check-in, the cast member was kind enough to inform us that the fee was waived for DVC members and reminded us to ask about DVC discounts as more places were offering them.

Pros:

clean room, friendly staff, location to Downtown

Cons:

thin walls

Ate here on 2/5/13. This was our first time eating at Mama Melrose and boy were we surprised! The food here was amazing! We got the mussels, salad and tomato/ mozzarella stack as our appetizers and everything was delicious! For dinner all 3 of us got the steak and they were all cooked to order. Kids got chicken parmesan and pizza. They ate every last bit. Desserts were just OK. Our server Joanne was very nice. Will definitely be back again!
