I am not going to mark the Polynesian down any for the construction because I knew what was going on before booking this resort. We had a ground floor room in the Rarotonga Building. It was fantastic. We were in "standard" view. Our patio faced toward the monorail, but was still private because there were tons of plants between us and the monorail. The convience to the parks via the monorail just can't be beat. We walked one morning to the TTC to catch the Epcot monorail and despite the path being relocated, it was still less than a 10 minute walk.
A big part of the lobby was walled off for the construction, but it wasn't a huge distraction. The front desk was still easily accessible and the staff was very friendly.
We booked a "bounce back" offer for the first week of November for next year to come back to the Polynesian and see how gorgeous it looks after the construction is finished.

We loved this resort from day one. Our first concierge was friendly and welcoming. We weren't sure about the long walk to the 90's building at the back. But we discovered we could shortcut through the parking lot direct to the buses. It was so quiet back there and so close to the computer pool which was never busy. Great spot!
Had some nice meals at the food court. A notch above fast food chains for sure. The best part was eating gluten free and knowing I was SAFE. The chefs were very kind and extremely accommodating. They take food allergy seriously.
We liked the food court....until we went next door to Art of Animation. In comparison Pop was very crowded and difficult to do in a scooter/wheelchair. We liked the menu better at Pop. So I guess there's always pros and cons and trade offs.
Was surprised to get a couple of unsmiling unmagical Concierge later in week. Almost Grumpy. Not up to normal Disney standard. I guess everyone has a bad day. Even Disney cast members!
Our visit was Nov 14 to 20, 2014
Pros:
Very clean rooms! 90's area quiet and close to parking lot. Food allergy friendly.Cons:

Stayed for two nights in November 2014. Arrived at 11 am, room wasn't ready and they said they'd text when it was. Went to the amazing pool and waited hours for the text to get into our room. It never came. Finally stopped at the desk again after the regular check-in time and got our room assignment. It was in the last hallway, as far away from the lobby as possible so it was quite a walk with luggage. But, we had a partial view of Epcot through the trees and a great balcony facing Epcot to watch Illuminations. And our walk to Epcot was about 3 minutes. So we were very happy with it. The room itself was very spacious, clean, and comfortable. Loved the double sinks for getting ready fast in the mornings. Kids loved the pool, can't beat that sand bottom for hours of entertainment. We took a boat to Hollywood Studios and that worked out great. We also enjoyed walking around the boardwalk. Overall, love the hotel, wish it was in our price range more often!

Great pool, very close to EpcotCons:

Stayed here for two nights over a weekend in November. Booked it because it was the only Disney resort available in our price range. Had to get a preferred room because no standard rooms were left. Our preferred room was in the Dalmatians building 4, but was at the back near the parking lot. I would've expected a preferred room to at least be in the front closer to the main building. The room was very, very quiet. The beds, sink, toilet and shower were all clean but in general the room really needed a thorough deep cleaning. Lots of dust and gunk built up in all the corners. I expect more attention to that from Disney, even in a value resort. Probably wouldn't stay here again, for a value resort I would go with Pop Century instead.
Pros:
Fun theming, very quietCons:

Went here for lunch with my son who is just a year too old to order off the kids' menu. He got the adult menu fried chicken and ate all four pieces of it and his mashed potatoes, but wouldn't eat the collard greens served with it so he couldn't get his clean plate ranger sticker. He was disappointed and I am wondering why they don't increase the age for the kids' menu or else offer a more typical side like green beans or corn, at least as a substitute. I normally like collard greens but I ate some of my son's and did not care for them either. I had the pot roast, which was delicious as always. Our waiter Bobby was good and into the role. They need to lengthen the TV reel that plays - we saw it four times while we were there.

The buffet food was decent, not spectacular. The dessert variety can't be beaten. I think we ate more desserts than dinner. The characters were great, and our server was happy to take pictures of our whole party with them. Our reservation timing happened to work out so that we could watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the balcony of the Contemporary after eating. That was great!

We eat here every trip, and this time really noticed a dip in the quality and variety of food on the buffet. Still good, but not sure it's really worth the price anymore. The characters were great with us even though our family has no little kids in it, especially Tigger and Piglet. Waiter was very personable, but very slow to get drinks and refills.

The quick service food was excellent! Definitely the best quick service meal we ate, possibly even the best overall. We loved the sandwiches on baguettes and the tuna nicoise salad. The lemon meringue cupcakes were heavenly. And the atmosphere inside is wonderful. It was very hard to get the fastpass for this, but well worth the effort. The standby line closed at 10:45 am the day we were there so very glad we got the fastpass.

I ordered the Colony Salad with Grilled Chicken and it was delicious. Son had turkey, mashed potatoes and green beans and loved it. My husband had the burger and said it was good. The inside of the restaurant has wonderful colonial theming and our waiter was outstanding.

The food here was wonderful. I had the salmon sandwich and it was so delicious and different. It was served with watermelon, which I liked. I had an ice cream sundae for dessert and it was fantastic. The theming is very cute as well. The only reason I couldn't give it a "10" is because of our experience with those working there. Starting with the host who never once smiled at us. Our waitress was fine but she also rarely smiled and was less than enthused. I don't think any of that would have bothered me much had it not been that about 6-8 cast members kept congregating around the bar area and whispering and giggling. It's a very small restaurant so it made us feel a bit uncomfortable. Like they were waiting for us (and they rest of the customers) to leave so they could have their own party. May be important to note that our reservation was at 5:00 PM in the afternoon so nowhere near closing time. In short, the food was great but we couldn't get out of there fast enough.
