Review of Cape May Cafe Clam Bake Dinner

We normally love the Cape May Cafe and it is a must do for us each time we go. This time we had a 45 minute wait to get seated w/ ADR. The food was good as always, but the server was just okay. It is a pricey meal unless you are on the meal plan (which we usually are). I highly recommend the food, but service could get better.

Pros:

Good Food

Cons:

Service was okay; wait time

We dined here 11/17/14. We mostly all ate the Tonga Toast and the Macadamia Nut pancakes. All of the food was wonderful. You got plenty to eat and the prices were reasonable. Our waiter was excellent. We definitely plan to return. This is now a must-do on our WDW trip list.

Pros:

Food was excellent

The new FP+ system have taken away from any freedom that one might have had. Now you have to pre-plan every day.

I personally hate the new system.

Pros:

Allow long range planning

Cons:

Have destroyed the Magic

Review of MagicBand

When we checked in they asked us to make sure we could access our room with the Magic Bands. They all worked fine. Then we went to the Magic Kingdom and my grandson's would not allow him access to the park. We were told we had to go to Guest Relations, but because it was raining and I did not want to stand out in the rain we went back to the hotel to get in straight. When we got there it took over an hour to finally get it cleared up and then my grandson's "Tragic Band" was the only one that could access the room. Luckily we had Key to the World Cards which would also work to access the room.
Also My son and daughter-in-law could not use their Bands to charge meals or other items.

I wish Disney would not have messed with a system that was pretty good before.

Pros:

None

Cons:

Don't work all the time

Review of Port Orleans Riverside Resort (Moderate Resort)

This was our first stay at Riverside (11/30/14-12/6/14) and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Our extended family of 8 went. We were able to get 3 rooms all in a row. We stayed in the Royal Guest rooms and even my 17 year old son enjoyed it. The building we were in was a short walk to the main lobby, bus stops and restaurants. We never had to wait long for a bus and it seemed that the rides to the parks were never more than 10-15 minutes. My parents were able to eat at Boatwrights with out a reservation and said the food was delicious. We ate dinner a few times at Riverside Mill, the make your own pasta station was a hit!!! Breakfast was typical food court fare but the grits were excellent. We have stayed both off and on property in deluxe and value resorts and this was by far the best vacation we have ever had. The Christmas decorations in the lobby were lovely and the towel animals in the rooms were a big hit every day the them younger children ( and the rest of us as well). The check in process was easy and the questions we had for the front desk were quickly answered. I would say to anyone asking that this has to be the best resort at Disney. We are already planning our next vacation there.

Pros:

Theme, decorations, busses and restaurants

We went to the 12/4/14 show. We had a dining package, so we were able to get some good seats. The singing was incredible and the narrator did an amazing job. We will definitely see this again and it was well worth the cost of the dining package and the long wait to get in. I recommend everyone see this show.

Pros:

The music and Christmas Story.

This was the first time we attended MVMCP (12/2)and I'm sad to say it will be the last. While we enjoyed the parade, the park was too crowded. We were in place to see the first parade at 6:00, before the event even started. We waited in the same spot for over 2 hours. The younger children ages 7 and 8 were unable to see the castle shows. It seemed that the Disney cast members kept filling the area in front of the castle and it was difficult to clear the area before the parade started. We did enjoy the parade. The performers were amazing and the floats were beautiful. We were all so looking forward to this event and the adults were disappointed. I feel like the event is oversold. While I will continue to love Disney and keep coming to the parks, I honestly cannot recommend this event to anyone.

Pros:

Parade

Cons:

Crowds

Maybe it was because I was dining after 5 and the restaurant closed at 6. Maybe it was an off day. Maybe I was expecting Boma. I don't know, but this simply wasn't very good. I had a 1710 reservation and was seated after a short wait. The first thing I noticed is how loud it is inside. The decor is beautiful inside and all tile and plaster, wood and glass and with very little textiles to absorb the sound so everything accumulated and echoes. The character interaction was good though and they do a parade through the dining areas with a trail of children and characters. The staff and service was good, but the food was not kept stocked and being close to closing they did not replenish so I didn't have a lot of choose from. Dessert for me was a lone sad cookie. They did have a lot of wonderful sounding choices but the dishes were empty so I couldn't say how they even looked. I left here filled up with fruit and salad and a little meat and veggies and rather disappointed. I suppose I was expecting much more since I had read so many glowing reviews of this place. The food flavors and choices were similar to Boma's but very limited. I was disappointed in the rather small selection in comparison. The food was all okay but just okay. I would return if others in my party wanted to dine there, and certainly earlier in the day and not so close to closing, but I would not return as a solo diner.

Pros:

characters, buffet style, a little of something for everybody

Cons:

loud and food not that good

Review of Treehouse Villas at Saratoga Springs (Disney Vacation Club)

Reviewed by JackM Review Date: 12/05/2014

Review by alisawalker (moved from Saratoga Springs to TreeHouses)

I love the room and the privacy in the tree houses. As a DVC member for several years, I keep going back to the tree houses because of the third bedroom and the fact that the second bathroom is not inside the second bedroom, making it more accessible to everyone. The third bedroom with bunk beds is great for kids, and the kitchen is wonderful to have. The master bath is a pretty neat set up too. Love all the natural touches. Inside, the tree house is always dark and the dark wood and furnishings contribute to that. The biggest inconvenience is the transportation. The resort bus does not go into the treehouse circle, rather drops you off at the main bus stop where you can walk (quite a distance), take a bus or take a boat. This is particularly tough when traveling with small children. Also, the boat going from the treehouses to the check-in center does not even start running until 10:30; well after you need to get going in the morning, leaving the walk or the bus as your only way to go to get breakfast.

Pros:

Lots of room and lots of privacy

Cons:

Long hike to get home at the end of a busy day; always feels feels dark inside
