Review of Animal Kingdom Lodge KIDANI Village (Disney Vacation Club)

We stayed for the first time at Kidani Village, standard studio view. The lobby is beautiful, a small version of the Jambo House lobby. It was a bit crowded to navigate through if crowded with people. Check in was quick and smooth and our room was ready at 9:30am. Our room was FAR from lobby—it was a long walk after walking all day in the parks. We have stayed many times in a pool view at Jambo House and we were spoiled by having everything centrally located. My teen daughter slept on the pull out couch and she said was comfortable. We used the pool several times and the pool area is great. Plenty of room so you are not sitting on top of other people.

Pros:

Beautiful hotel, grounds, fun pool area and great animal viewing areas.

Cons:

Can be a long walk to your room. Small lobby, no food court.

Had a massage on the Fantasy. I don’t usually like massages but I decided to treat myself. It was amazing. I wanted to go every day but that was not going to be possible. It was really worth it. An enthusiastic yes to a spa massage.

Pros:

Relaxing!

Cons:

None I can think of.

Review of Akershus Royal Banquet Hall - Lunch/Dinner

We have dined at Akershus on two separate occasions. The first time we were a bit overwhelmed with the snap of the picture upon entry, the buffet and then the ala carte items. We weren't really sure how it all worked. Some of the food items are a little unusual,to maintain proper themeing , no doubt. Portions of the ala carte menu were laughably small, we literally laughed as my daughter tried to see the chicken that was in the bottom of a huge bowl..this was the first time and we didn't really use the buffet to our advantage. The second time we were 'ready' and did justice to the buffet and then ordered our alacarte items. It was very crowded and loud, and to the point of my little girl getting elbowed nearly every two minutes by someone walking by or the man at the table next to her (arranged in a "L" shape) when he stretched. My husband actually had to ask him to be more polite. Character interaction was good, in as far as the princess' were well represented, but very quick, when the girls were younger it felt very rushed.

Pros:

Atmosphere, princess galore. Unique items on the menu.

Cons:

Loud, over crowded seating, and very hustle bustle kind of atmosphere.

We did the on line ordering ahead, it was super convenient. I love the ambiance of being in the castle and the fact that we could make reservations (unlike most QS/CS locations). The food was good, if not wonderful, there should be something for everyone on the menu.

Pros:

Castle dining!! awesome themeing, order ahead service, able to make reservations (in fact you really should).

Cons:

I honestly cannot think of one "con"..it was great!

Review of Creature Comforts - Starbucks

Creature Comforts is a great place. We always hit this on our walk by in the afternoon for an extra lift. It is large and airy and you are getting a familiar brand product.

Pros:

Snack Credits (on the dining plan) can be used for ANY size beverage and for almost everything in their cases (baked goods). Super great value and a great way to use some of those credits up.

Cons:

Occasionally the line will be extensive, and their seems like there is no good place to stand to wait for your drink.

Review of Cafe Orleans Lunch/Dinner

I absolutely loved this place! This cafe is situated in the New Orleans area where you can enjoy a great lunch as you take in the scenery of the Rivers of America. The montecristo sandwich is one of my top 5 Disney foods. This sandwich cannot be found in Disney World Resort which makes this all of the more enjoyable once taking the first bite. The pomme fritte fries are a great side and the portion size of 1 order is enjoyable for two people (and we love to eat). For dessert, we ordered the beignets to finish our experience. Truly airy and delicious accompanied with a berry compote and a vanilla sauce.

Pros:

Food Service Location

Cons:

None

Still some of the best pâtisseries around. Many of them are still truly sweetened in the French fashion - not as sugary as the North American versions, but things have changed here too, and now several offerings taste as though they've doubled the sugar content, overwhelming the cream, custard or chocolate. Quel dommage!

Pros:

much of it still very delicious

Cons:

some choices are much too sugary

The land based on Cameron's Pandora transports you to a whole new experience. The scenery is breathtaking, the food is exquisite, and Flight of Passage is definitely an attraction you don't want to miss. Riding on the back of a Banshee in Flight Passage was thrilling and the views were spectacular. If staying at a Disney resort, grab a Fast pass for this attraction 60 days prior to arrival as these tend to go quickly.

Pros:

Theme of the land Flight of Passage Food and drinks are great at this location!

Cons:

Navis River journey (wait times are long for short boat ride)

Review of Main Street Bakery Serving Starbucks

Yes, there is okay coffee here now - but we gave up Starbucks long ago, when their coffee quality took a few hits. Now waaaay back in the day, (80s, early 90s), Magic Kingdom had coffee carts with some of the best hot and iced coffee around (even decaf - a new necessity for me). It's been downhill ever since! The sweets are okay - but this is the Magic Kingdom! Where is the Magic? Where is the supremely royal tasting coffee and goodies!!! Cmon, Mickey, help us out!

Pros:

Starbucks is better than the most recent coffee offerings.

Cons:

Starbucks is worse than in the old days of varied and great coffee almost anywhere in WDW !

Review of Coral Reef - Lunch/Dinner

We really enjoyed our most recent meal here. Sitting right by the tank changes your experience of this restaurant. Our food was very good and very tasty. (Seafood places can sometimes be bland.) The mani-mahi was just right! The service was very good and very conscientious, as one person in our party has a severe health concern, although not an allergen. They gave his meal the extra attention needed, without dismissing it - we've heard this before in other places: "it's not an allergy." While true that it wouldn't bring about an instant 911 call, it would cause very serious problems within an hour or two. So thank you WDW, and the chefs at Coral Reef. Although it seems noisy, it's a muted noise. We've only ever had great food and great service. The lighting is designed for maximum viewing, but this place would lend itself very nicely to having a little corner having dimmed lighting, but that's because this place speaks to the romantic in me!

Pros:

Whole wall aquarium views, and tasty food.

Cons:

nothing comes to mind
