Review of Diamond Horseshoe - Frontierland - Open Seasonally

I can't say enough about our experience to the Diamond Horseshoe! After a long day of rides, walking, shows, walking, sun and... did I mention WALKING? we were tired and hungry!

The food was delicious and though I wouldn't say perfect, we also weren't expecting to be sitting down to a gourmet meal. We were sitting down to a family style, all you can eat table of some real good saloon grub. The price wasn't cheap, but the amount of food well made up for it.

Everyone loved the pulled pork and chick the most. The cornbread was served warm and sweet. Drinks were cold. The service was perfect, quick and not too intrusive but always available. We found the place at this link https://www.visitflorida.com/en-us/eat-drink/family-guide-restaurants-disney-magic-kingdom.html which lists a bunch of Magic Kingdom restaurants.

The saloon atmosphere was also great. Everyone loved the look of the place! This is definitely the kind of place to take a group of hungry Disney explorers. Overdoing it though may slow you down for the rest of your visit! We were all wanting a nap after our meal. 🙂

Pros:

The service, the atmosphere and the great plentiful food!

Cons:

A little pricey but well worth the value if you're hungry!

Review of Hard Ticketed Events (Party for the Senses, Food and Wine Pairings)

This was our 4th time going to Party for the Senses in September 2018, it was the worse one, not as many food and beverage stations. It seems as if they are cutting back while increasing the price. Will not go next year.

Pros:

Fun evening.

Cons:

Party for the Senses 2018 was sub par compared to previous years. Very disappointing.

Review of Artist's Palette Lunch / Dinner

We were very pleased with all the choices at Artist's Palette. During our week stay in Jan 2019, we tried flatbreads, sandwiches, the Saratoga Salad (excellent) and the chef specials at dinner. All were very good. The only dessert we had were the cupcakes but they were very good, too. The special at dinner changes every night. The area was small but it was never crowded. Being at a DVC resort, more people will eat in their room since they have a kitchen, which we did every day for breakfast. Overall, very pleased with the food.

Pros:

Good food

Cons:

none

Review of Saratoga Springs Resort (Disney Vacation Club)

We stayed here from Jan 11 to Jan 19, 2019 in a 2 bedroom villa. This was our first time on this property and booked it through David's Vacation Club Rentals who was great to work with. The reason we are giving this resort only a 7 (more like a 7.5) is because the room was in serious need of refurbishment, mainly in the living room/kitchen area. The cushions on the couch were disgusting and half of each one smashed down to nothing. I can't believe Disney wouldn't at least replace the cushions. My sister's grandson was going to use the pullout but we didn't even try due to how it looked. The built in bench by the kitchen table was also stained and dirty. The mattresses in the bedroom were good - very comfortable. And the amount of room in the villa was very nice and having 4 sinks for everyone to get ready in the morning was great. Everything else was positive. We were in the Paddock section in a building right next to the pool and the bridge over to the main area. The grounds are huge so if you have any mobility issues you need to watch which area you want to stay in. The grandson loved the pool in the Paddock section and also tried the one in the Springs but liked staying closer to our room. We ate at both the Artist's Palette and the Paddock Grill and both were very good. We only had 1 issue with the buses where we waited for 45 min one morning and the bus driver who finally arrived said the other driver got lost!! We used the Disney Experience app to check the bus arrival times but they are just an estimate. Some came earlier, some a little later. Overall we enjoyed our stay and if they refurbished the rooms, we would give Saratoga Springs a 10!

Pros:

Quiet and beautiful grounds Great pools Good food at Artist's Palette and Paddock Grill Nice walking/running trail Close to Disney Springs

Cons:

Room needed refurbishment! Large resort - very spread out

Review of Smokejumpers Grill

The day we tried Smoke Jumpers it was raining and there was nowhere to sit inside the restaurant. The line moved quickly and we didn’t have to wait long for our food. I had a salad with grilled chicken. The salad was fresh with lots of topping but there was nothing remarkable about it. There is a toppings bar with lots of options.

There are better options in DCA for a quick bite.

Pros:

Line moves quickly

Cons:

Seating

Review of Plaza Inn Lunch/Dinner

Two of us split the fried chicken dinner, it was enough food for both of us. The chicken was very good and served with mashed potatoes and green beans. It was one of the best meals we had our entire trip. There was a line to enter the eatery, but it moved quickly and finding the correct line for your entrée and sides can be a little confusing at first. The menu is small and is served cafeteria style. We could not find an open table inside, so we sat on a small patio just outside the door. It was cold out but there are heaters inside the lamps which made it much more comfortable to sit outside.

Pros:

Price

Cons:

Seating, very crowded

Review of Plaza Inn Minnie and Friends Breakfast

We were one of the first groups of the morning and since there weren’t many people in the restaurant, the characters came over quickly and interacted with us for quite some time. There was Capitan Hook, Minnie Mouse, The Fairy Godmother, Chip and Dale and Eeyore. It was fun having them to ourselves before the restaurant filled up with other diners. The buffet had the standard breakfast items including Mickey waffles and several healthier items such as fruit and oatmeal. The food was well prepared with something for everyone. The beverages were also self-served so you didn’t have to wait for someone to bring you a refill.

Pros:

Character interactions

The corn dog is huge, however it was mostly breading and lacked flavor. There was a long line that moved slowly and considering that the corn dog didn’t seem fresh, I’m not sure why it took so long.

Pros:

Value for money

Review of 'Ohana Best Friends Character Breakfast

Had breakfast on January 21,2019. It was pretty easy to find the reservation. Just that. Reservation was for 11:10. Got seated at 12:15 after asking the hostess. We were just two. The server immediately offered us coffee. The bread (I call it a coffee cake) was good and fresh. After a few minutes we got our fruit plate. Then the food. It was hot and fresh. Our sever kept coming with refills for the juice and asking if we needed something. We were almost leaving, when the characters arrive. Overall it was a good experience except for the long wait to be seated. People should be more considerate with other people waiting for their table. Expensive, but probably do it again.

Pros:

Pretty good for common breakfast items. Waffles were great. Eggs were to my taste. Service was good.

Cons:

Waited too long to be seated.

We ate here 1/16/2019. We were at WDW for the Marathon. We have eaten here every time we come to Disney World and it has been our favorite until this time. They no longer offer the fish & steak so we opted to get the fish & chips, being a table service we expected a good portion, we were let down with only 1 piece of fish. We could have gone next door to the quick service and received the same amount of food for less and the same quality. The cheese tray has been our favorite appetizer to enjoy while looking out over the world showcase lagoon; they have changed up the cheese tray and it was not anywhere as good as before. Sadly disappointed in the food and experience and we will not be dining here again unless it improves greatly.

Pros:

Location on the patio overlooking world showcase lagoon

Cons:

food portion and taste
