REVIEW: There’s a Reason This Dollywood Snack Is FAMOUS

Recently, we paid a visit to one of America’s most beloved regional theme parks, Dollywood! Located in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, the park has been celebrating all things Dolly Parton and the Smoky Mountains since 1986.

Emma with THE bread

The park is well known for its mixture of thrill rides, country charm, and FOOD! During our trip, we tried several of Dollywood’s best-known treats and restaurants, including our focus today: The Grist Mill and its renowned Cinnamon Bread!

First opened in 1982, when the property currently known as Dollywood operated as Silver Dollar City, the Grist Mill was the first fully operational grist mill built in the state of Tennessee in more than 100 years. According to the park, workers constructed the building “exactly as it would have been more than a century ago when folks in the Smoky Mountains relied on the giant water wheel to grind corn and wheat.”

The Grist Mill’s most famous offering is its Cinnamon Bread. The treat, which is freshly made daily, costs $12.99 in its basic incarnation, and we paired it with a side of Apple Butter and a side of extra icing for $1.59 each.

Behold

The warm pull-apart loaf is light and fluffy, but not underbaked, and comes coated in butter and cinnamon sugar. Once we drizzled icing all over it, the bread became crispy, soft, gooey, and fluffy all at once.

The apple butter was like a caramelized and thick version of apple sauce that pairs perfectly with the bread. It’s not nearly as sweet as the icing, which might make it a better option for those who want to try the bread but don’t necessarily have a massive sweet tooth. This brings us to our overall opinion on the bread. Those who love sweet cinnamon rolls will likely love it, while those who don’t particularly like sweets may find it to be a bit too much.

You can share…if you want

Also of note, while the Grist Mill is the Cinnamon Bread’s best-known location, it’s also available in other locations in the park, and you can even have it delivered directly to the room in the morning as part of breakfast delivery.

The face you make when the cinnamon bread is all gone!

Dollywood’s Cinnamon Bread is one of the iconic theme park’s most famous snacks, and as far as we’re concerned, it lived up to the hype. Stay tuned to AllEars for more from Dollywood!
