“Maybe Then They Won’t Look Like Cheaply Done Pediatricians’ Offices” Fans Have THOUGHTS About the New Rooms Coming to Disney’s Art of Animation Resort

One of Walt Disney World’s value resorts is getting a major update, and it’s bigger than we expected!

The rooms at Disney’s Art of Animation will be going under refurbishment in the summer of 2027, and some Disney fans have shared their thoughts!

First, let’s talk about what changes are coming. Both the regular guest rooms and the family suites at Art of Animation will be undergoing a refurbishment. These refurbishments will occur through phases, so this means the resort will not close completely during the construction.

Each section will be undergoing a refurbishment, but we got a sneak peek of the concept art for The Little Mermaid rooms at a recent media event! We can confirm that these rooms will still be significantly themed with seashell beds and chairs, and there will be themed artwork throughout the rooms. We also spotted bubble lamps on the nightstands!

When we posted about this on Facebook, the post received over 40 comments about the announcement, and you all had some THOUGHTS.

Some fans are skeptical about the refurbishment. Gina commented, “I really hope they don’t make these bland like the other refurbishments.” Rochelle responded similarly, saying, “I’m sure it will be minimalistic now like all the other resorts.”

There were also a surprising number of comments about the sofa beds. There are two types of foldable beds in Disney resorts: sofa beds and Murphy beds. A lot of the Art of Animation rooms have sofa beds, so a lot of fans are hoping that the Murphy beds will be coming with the refurbishment!

Karen commented, “They need to remove those AWFUL fold out couches in the suites and put a pull-down, queen-size murphy bed.” Linda agreed, writing, “Hoping they change the sofa bed to one like in most of the other resorts [the Murphy bed]!”

But some people are excited about the upcoming changes! Katarina wrote, “Super excited for the new rooms!” And Amber thinks the refurbishment is long overdue, saying, “Good! Maybe then they won’t look like cheaply done pediatricians’ offices.”
