First Restaurant Announced for New Monstropolis Land in Disney World!

Monsters, Inc. Land is coming soon to Disney’s Hollywood Studios! The new land will have two new attractions, a restaurant, shopping destinations, and even the iconic Laugh Factory itself. 

When Disney announced the new land back in 2024, they didn’t say what the monstrous restaurant would be. Now, two years later, Disney has announced the new restaurant coming to Monstropolis!

The concept art had teased it quite a bit, but now, Disney has officially announced that Harryhausen’s will be coming to Monstropolis in Hollywood Studios! This is the Japanese restaurant that Mike takes Celia to for her birthday in the film.

Monstropolis is set after the events of the film. The newly-formed Department of Human Relations is seeking to improve relationships between monsters and humans. Thus, H.U.M.A.N. Day was formed! This is a chance for humans to visit the monster world and enjoy their culture for the very first time. That means indulging in some of their cuisine!

Disney announced this backstory with a Monstropolis Horn newspaper clipping, but there’s one important thing to note about this paper — at the top, it notes that restaurant menu news and attraction details for The Glob Theater are listed on page 8, column 15. For those Disney fans in the know, you may recognize 8/15 as one of the dates for D23 this year! That means we’re likely going ot receive some more important details about this land at the fan convention.

As mentioned in that newspaper, one of the land’s attractions is The Glob Theater. It’s featured in concept art as the spot replacing Muppet*Vision 3D, but Disney hasn’t announced what will be inside. A theater show? A meet-and-greet? We’ll have to wait and find out!

The second attraction is a brand-new Monsters, Inc. roller coaster, which will be Disney’s first-ever suspended coaster. You’ll zoom through the Laugh Factory building with Mike, Sully, and Boo on a hanging door!
