Let’s head to EPCOT for a construction update on a popular spot!

Back on January 12th, 2026, EPCOT’s Refreshment Port closed for refurbishment. But it turns out the “refurbishment” is more of a switch-up than originally expected! In April 2026, Disney confirmed that Refreshment Port, as we knew it, is officially closed, and when the refurbishment is done, it will be reopened as “La Poutinerie.” With the closure several months in, we’re taking a look at the current construction progress!
Located near the entrance to the Canada Pavilion in EPCOT’s World Showcase, Refreshment Port has been a staple for years. It typically got in on the EPCOT festival action by serving up specialty festival items, and was known for offering both traditional poutine and unique twists on the classic dish.

Refreshment Port was closed for refurbishment on January 12th, 2026. Several months after the initial closure, Disney announced that the location is being reimagined as a NEW snack spot called La Poutinerie Hosted by Air Canada.

Disney hasn’t released an opening date or menu for La Poutinerie yet, but said the location will serve “a Canadian classic with a twist.” Considering the name and the previous poutine-heavy menu of Refreshment Port, it seems like the reimaged space will also be focused on poutine dishes. While the details on the new location are scarce so far, we have seen concept art for La Poutinerie.

Comparing the concept art to the Refreshment Port pre-closure, it looks like the structure itself will remain mostly the same, with elements rethemed to match the reimagined restaurant. We also spotted a Notice of Commencement construction permit that was recently filed to install set elements, which is typically listed on permits when Disney is working on the exterior of a building or attraction. Here’s a look at Refreshment Port before the 2026 closure…

…and here’s a recent shot of it behind construction walls. Of course, the walls obscure much of the building, so it’s hard to say what could be going on inside or behind the structure. But most of the visible elements haven’t been updated yet, including the “Refreshment Port” signage. Based on the concept art, it seems that the shape of the signage will be similar, just with the title swapped out for La Poutinerie.

The concept art also suggests other exterior changes may be coming, including a new roof color, detailing on the chimney, etc, although since concept art is a rough idea rather than an exact blueprint, some things may not be exactly as they’re depicted in the artwork. We did spot some construction equipment peeking out behind the roof, so it looks like work is ongoing!

An opening date hasn’t been announced for La Poutinerie yet, so it’s unclear whether it will reopen in time for this year’s EPCOT Food and Wine Festival, which kicks off on August 27th. But we’ll be keeping a close eye out for updates on construction progress, as well as any official announcements from Disney, so stay tuned to AllEars for the latest!
