Unfortunately, if you are visiting Disney World between June and November, you need to be aware of hurricanes.

Hurricane Season is prevalent every year in Florida, and you have no control over a hurricane hitting during your Disney Vacation; however, you can be aware of Disney’s hurricane policy so you can be as prepared as possible!
So let’s dive into everything you need to know about if a hurricane disrupts your Disney Vacation.

A Hurricane Warning Is Issued Within 7 Days Of Your Arrival
If a hurricane warning is issued within seven days of your arrival, you may reschedule or cancel your Disney hotel, tickets, packages, and most room-only reservations if you booked directly with Disney without any cancellation or change fees imposed by Disney.

This full refund policy only applies to reservations fully booked through Disney. So, for all other bookings, airlines, rental cars, etc., you must contact those services. As well as anything booked through a third party or travel agency, you would have to research their specific policies.

If you reschedule, all payments for rooms, tickets, and dining plans are then applied to your new reservation. And it’s important to note that Disney states, “The policy does not apply to rooms or packages for youth groups, other groups, and special events. It also does not apply to meetings and conventions. Please call your event manager for assistance.”

If You Have Dining Reservation or Special Experiences
The previously outlined modified hurricane cancellation policy does not necessarily apply to “certain special events or dining experiences.”

Disney restaurants simply require you to cancel within two hours to avoid fees; however, special experiences like Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique have different cancellation policies you have to look into.

So if you have any special experiences, make sure to research their specific cancellation policies to be prepared.

If You Book With A Special Offer or Discount
This really depends on the situation, Disney states, “Cast Members will be able to reschedule your vacation to your new desired travel dates if the same special offer is available for those dates.”

If that offer is no longer available, Cast Members will try to help you find another offer; however, it is not a guarantee you’ll be able to book with the same deal. Either way, everything you have already paid gets applied to your new reservation.

If You Want To Keep The Same Accommodations
If you booked at a specific resort and want to rebook your new dates at the same resort, unfortunately, Disney cannot guarantee the same availability for your new travel dates.

Cast members will try their best to assist you; however, they cannot guarantee the same price and accommodations.

Conclusion
It is always best to be prepared and research the cancellation policy for everything you book for a Disney trip during Hurricane Season.

Disney also advises: “If you have questions, are unable to modify or cancel online, or you need additional help rescheduling your vacation due to a hurricane warning, please call (407) 939-7675.”

Hurricanes are an unavoidable part of Disney World, but you can use this information to be as prepared as possible!
