Park Hopping Rules Are CHANGING at Disneyland

In both Disney World and Disneyland, you can still find a few aspects of your park day that are still influenced by the COVID-19 Pandemic back in 2020, even though it’s been six years.

Over at Disneyland Resort, you’ll find that park hopping limitations are still in place, which means that those with park hopping capabilities cannot jump to the other park until after 11 AM. However, we’ve got fantastic news — later this year, this park-hopping rule will be going away!

According to the Orange County Register, it was recently reported that, in a recent briefing with the media, Disney announced that their 11 AM park hopping rule would be no more starting later in 2026. There is no official date set for this change just yet. However, it’s important to note that park pass reservations themselves will still be required in order to manage demand.

This means that, after this takes effect, guests will be able to freely pop between both parks when they’d like, as long as they head to the park they have a reservation for first, and their ticket allows for park hopping. We know this will help a lot of guests when it comes to planning, since they’ll be able to hop whenever they’d like!

Additionally, in the same briefing, it was announced that Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! in Disney California Adventure will now remain open longer than originally planned. Previously, this ride was set to close in early 2026 so Disney could begin building their new Avatar land, but now, the ride will be open through 2026 and close in 2027.

Why these changes? Well, in the briefing, Disney mentioned that they want to limit guests’ frustrations in the parks as all this construction is going on, and they realize eliminating the park hopper limitation and keeping a ride open longer is a great way to do that. While we do understand that park passes help Disney see what the demand is for either park, we do wish that the need for park passes would also be a thing of the past — that would really make the parks easier to visit!
