I Asked 5 Experts Which Epic Universe Ride They Rope Drop First — And It WASN’T What I Thought

We have quickly become HUGE fans of Epic Universe at Universal Orlando Resort. The new theme park opened in May 2025, and now you’ll likely catch at least one of us there on any given weekend. Of course, AE’s top fans of Epic Universe are the guys and gals on our AllEars YouTube cast!

I reached out to Quincy, Breedlove, Emma, Myranda, and JP to ask about their rope-dropping experiences at Epic Universe. They had some great takes, but there was some debate on what you should do first thing in the morning. In the end, we all came to an agreement.

Non-Resort Guests Rope Drop THIS First

Right off the bat, Quincy and Emma jumped on the bandwagon and said you should definitely rope drop Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry! They suggest getting to the park at the same time that Resort Guests can begin rope dropping. Even though you can’t do anything in the park besides get in line, they highly recommend grabbing your spot in the line for Battle at the Ministry.

Then, when the ride officially opens for everyone, you’re much closer to the front than if you had waited to get to the park at opening.

Queue for Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry

JP and Myranda had a different idea. While they acknowledge that Battle at the Ministry could be a good choice, they often see the Harry Potter ride’s wait time go way down in the evening. If you’re willing to take the risk, they suggest rope dropping Mine Cart Madness, Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge, or Hiccup’s Wing Gliders.

This “boom coaster” style ride will allegedly feature the illusion of jumping over sections of missing and broken tracks.

Quincy also agrees that Mario Kart is definitely not a bad option to rope drop, instead of Battle at the Ministry. However, it was discussed by the group that sometimes, Battle at the Ministry will get to capacity or signs will come out early in the day saying that it will close early (however, these signs might not always be 100% accurate, so it might still be worth trying to save it for the end of the night for a really low wait time).

Wait times can be wild!

Resort Guests Can Rope Drop THESE

Resort Guests at Universal Orlando Resort have the perk of getting Early Entry into the park, an extra hour inside the park. During Early Entry, they can pass through the portals into Super Nintendo World and hang out in Celestial Park to ride Stardust Racers.

The ride uses practical sets and augmented reality images shown using special glasses to bring guests directly into the world of the popular video game series.

Breedlove mentioned that Stardust Racers is closer for Resort Guests to get to, so you may want to rope drop that ride first, especially if you want to ride BOTH sides right away. Get on the green side first, then hop into line for the yellow side.

Quincy, Myranda, Emma, and JP all agreed that Resort Guests should use Early Entry to rope drop Mine Cart Madness, as this is a very popular ride! Of course, you could go hop into line early for Battle at the Ministry, which is NOT open during Early Entry, but that would probably be a waste of your perk even if you do get on it immediately when the park officially opens.

It All Comes Down To Your Priorities

All-in-all, the AllEars YouTube cast agreed that the ride you choose to rope drop, whether you’re a Resort Guest or a regular guest, simply comes down to your number 1 priority. All of the rides tend to have shorter lines in the evening, but the very first ride you want to jump in line for at the start of the day should be your must-do ride.

Stardust Racers!

You’ll likely see the AllEars team rope dropping Battle at the Ministry or Mine Cart Madness, but what you rope drop should be your number 1 priority ride at Epic Universe. If you’re a Resort Guest, be sure to take advantage of your Early Entry perk!

We’re at Universal Orlando all the time because we totally love everything these parks have to offer. So be sure to check back to AllEars for all your Universal updates!
