So you’re packing up after a magical Disney vacation and suddenly remember the… unique things you purchased and are concerned about getting through airport security with them. We have some tips for you!

TSA has definitely seen some things thanks to Disney fans. After a few personal hiccups (read: mild panic at security), I learned that traveling home with Disney’s most unusual souvenirs requires a little strategy. If you’re wondering how to pack up your new favorite items, I have some ideas for you.
Mickey Balloons
The TSA technically won’t allow inflated balloons on a plane. You can have it deflated at the Disney Store at the airport or by a Cast Member at the parks before you leave. You can have these reinflated at home by either blowing them up yourself (and learn how frustrating trying to get air into BOTH of Mickey’s ears is!) or take them to your local party supply store. Most are happy to try filling it up for you for a small fee!

Popcorn Buckets
Be sure that if you’ve purchased a popcorn bucket and it is outside of your bags, you follow the directions of putting it in a bin while going through security. We’re sure the TSA agents see these often, but they might ask you to remove it from your carry-on depending on what type of features the bucket has. Also, to ensure your popcorn doesn’t spill everywhere in security, bring a plastic bag to put the popcorn in, and now you have a new snack for the flight home.

Droids and Lightsabers
If you have built your droid over in Galaxy’s Edge, you are going to want to keep that thing safe. If you are flying home with one, be aware that TSA may take extra time to look at it while going through security. Remember that if it does not fit in a bag, it will likely count towards your bag count once you get to your gate, about to board the plane. Same thing with lightsabers that you built! You put a lot of money into these souvenirs, so be sure to handle them with care.

Coke Bottles
One of the most well-known Disney souvenirs to cause TSA issues in recent years is the special Coke bottles available in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. When Galaxy’s Edge first opened, there was even talk that the Coke bottles would be banned from flights due to the TSA’s rule, which stated, “Replica or inert explosives aren’t allowed in either carry-on or checked bags.” After some back and forth, the TSA eventually decided not to ban the bottles, instead saying they were allowed in both checked and carry-on bags as long as they were empty. So now, be sure to empty these of all liquid before packing them away in your carry-on!

Navigating TSA with Disney’s quirkiest souvenirs doesn’t have to be a stressful way to end your vacation. With the right prep, you can breeze through security. AllEars.net is here with the tips, tricks, and firsthand experiences to help make every part of your Disney trip smooth and stress-free, so stay tuned for more!
