Being a Disney World Annual Passholder comes with its share of perks, although the biggest perk is being able to visit the theme parks throughout the year.

There are other perks, though, too, including discounts on food and dining, exclusive merchandise, special Passholder-only lounges in the parks, early previews of rides, and so much more. However, Disney just sweetened the pot and added a new perk for those who sign up for an Annual Pass — and it could be a sign of something serious.
Disney just recently announced a new promotion for new Annual Passholders. Those who sign up for an Annual Pass will now get a Disney gift card that they can use for shopping online or in the parks on food, dining, and more. Here’s how this promotion breaks down for new Annual Passholders, depending on which Pass tier they choose:
- Disney Incredi-Pass — $100 Gift Card
- Disney Sorcerer Pass — $75 Gift Card
- Disney Pirate Pass — $50 Gift Card
- Disney Pixie Pass — $25 Gift Card
More importantly, Disney specifically stated that this promotion is only for NEW Annual Passholders and will not apply to those who renew their Annual Pass. This suggests that Disney is looking for more Annual Passholders in the parks. Perhaps it even suggests that Disney is desperate for more Annual Passholder sign-ups.

Does this mean that Disney is losing Annual Passholders? Passholder numbers aren’t public, so we can’t verify that, but it certainly feels like a push to get more Passholders, and we’re sure there’s a reason behind that. Perhaps it’s just a push to get more money from Passholder memberships, but whatever it is, something has changed.

So if there are fewer Annual Passholders, we have to ask why. Well, Disney World is undergoing a lot of construction in three of its four parks, meaning that many rides have closed or are closing while new expansions and lands are being built. That could make an Annual Pass less useful if there isn’t as much to do in Disney World due to these closures. Another reason could be that more people are spending their time at Universal Orlando, specifically Epic Universe, which just opened this year.

So is this announcement a hint that something has happened with Passholder sign-ups over the past year or so? Well, again, we don’t know, but it certainly seems so. We’ll have to keep an eye out for more promotions to see if this is the new norm.

Disney Is SABOTAGING Annual Passholders with Its Latest Rule
What do you think? Does the new offer entice you to become an Annual Passholder? Let us know in the comments!

Maybe lack of passholders has something to do with Bob Chepak saying that passholders were not as valuable as once in a lifetime guests!
Wonder if I could still be eligible for this. I purchased my IncrediPass March 4th, but won’t be activating it until Septtember 24th. I had all this planned out well before the offer came out. Maybe I should give them a call?
Less Passholders could also be because the number of perks lost and the increase of cost over the past few years.
We were incredi-pass holders for a long time. Your comments are accurate. Unfortunately, Disney really doesn’t reward you for renewing, year after year. When they did, the price increases erased any discounts they offered. The longer you hold onto the pass, the better the discounts should be. After several years, no extra benefits were offered and no effort was made by them to keep us from not renewing our multiple passes!
