If you’re heading to Disney World this summer, you might come across an unexpected problem…

The summertime at Disney World can be loads of fun, but it comes with plenty of drawbacks, unfortunately. Bigger crowds, longer waits, and miserable weather can really put a damper on a Disney vacation. In fact, the summer heat is creating quite the issue for Disney Adults.
The heat can really get to ya during these summer months. It’ll cause fatigue, possible dehydration, burns, sweat that turns into blisters, and overexhaustion. However, what many people don’t consider is that the heat also does the same thing to folks who WORK at Disney.

That’s right, Disney World Cast Members struggle with the heat as well — especially character actors.
We don’t want to break the illusion so *SPOILER WARNING*….

But, yes, there are people inside the costumes of your favorite Disney characters. We apologize if this fact is disturbing.
We’re even more sorry that these poor souls have to deal with the Florida heat and humidity while being enclosed in a Disney-fied heat prison.

There’s no cooling system inside the costumes, so actors need to manage breaks well and stick to the shade as much as possible. During the summer months, the heat, humidity, and rain often cause character interactions to be cut short.

If you’re a Disney Adult with kids looking for some valid excuses as to why Goofy needs to leave all of a sudden, we have some suggestions.
There are lots of kids visiting Disney World, and the characters can’t wait around all day in one spot if they’re to say “hi” to as many people as possible.
You could use an excuse that correlates to character motives (i.e. Stitch misses Lilo and needs to find her). Or maybe the White Rabbit is simply late (totally in character).

Maybe Buzz Lightyear needs to save the galaxy from Zurg. You get the picture.

Or you can throw a little bit of truth in. Maybe the character is just hot or it’s too rainy, and they need to take a break from meeting all their fans! The excuse doesn’t have to be super elaborate.

Either way, with kids totally buying into the Disney magic, Disney Adults who are now parents are met with an interesting challenge. It’s not impossible to overcome, though, and — with a bit of imagination — can be a fun way to play along!
