REVIEW: As Pretzel Experts, We Can Confidently Say This Epic Universe Snack Is NOT It

Who has two thumbs and loves eating their way around Epic Universe?!

Okay, collectively we definitely have more than two thumbs here at AllEars, but the statement still stands. The park hasn’t even officially opened yet (but it does on May 22nd!), and we’ve been making our way around reviewing everything so you know what’s worth your time and money. And y’all, this latest snack just ain’t it.

We recently stopped by DeLacey’s Cottage, located in the Dark Universe section of the park. This spot is home to refreshments like soda, beer, pretzels, and a few other snacks — but today, we’re here to check out the Frank & Friends Pretzel.

This is your classic soft pretzel — baked into the form of Frankenstein’s Monster’s head — and it comes with a side of “white cheese sauce.”

This thing is cute, but that’s about where the good news stops. We can’t help but feel like paying $12.99 for this is a little outrageous, when it’s a normal-sized soft pretzel with cheese on the side. The shape is adorable and, of course, unique, but other than that, this is just a regular ol’ pretzel.

It also just wasn’t that great of a soft pretzel — it didn’t have that slightly chewy exterior that you’d normally expect. There are some large pieces of salt on it, but certainly not enough to make a real difference.

The white cheese sauce was fine and probably the best-executed part of this snack, and it was nice and cheesy. It reminded us of a white American cheese or queso blanco without any kick to it, but it’s definitely processed, so keep that in mind if you’re looking for something fresh.

Ultimately, there are many much better snacks that you can find throughout Epic Universe, including the delicious cinnamon roll bites that are also available at DeLacey’s Cottage — grab those instead!
