LEGOLAND Florida is located just about 45 minutes from Orlando. The resort is home to a theme park and a water park — including the world’s first Peppa Pig theme park.

It was recently announced that LEGOLAND would be laying off around 200 employees, and now, the park’s parent company has revealed more layoffs coming soon.
The Orlando Business Journal has reported that Merlin Magic Making, the creative branch of Merlin Entertainment in the U.S., will lay off 31 employees, according to a letter to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity on April 1st.

The U.K.-based company is the owner of LEGOLAND Florida Resort in Winter Haven and The Orlando Eye Ferris wheel at Icon Park. The layoffs are slated to begin on May 31st and may continue through June 13th, according to the filing.
As of now, it is unclear if any of these layoffs will impact LEGOLAND or Orlando Eye employees.

In January, it was revealed that 234 LEGOLAND Florida employees received notices that their positions would be eliminated as of March 25th.
Over 150 of the positions being removed include roles in entertainment, with 23 being entertainment technicians. This also includes at least five team leaders, as well as other positions like “Head of Resort Quality.”

At the time, LEGOLAND released a statement, which said:
“At LEGOLAND Florida Resort we are making operational changes to help us elevate the guest experience in 2025 and beyond.
The decision to reduce the size of our entertainment team was undoubtedly difficult, but these changes will allow the Resort to operate more flexibly and responsively in a competitive market.
We are supporting employees during this period of change, including sharing job opportunities elsewhere in the wider visitor attraction sector in Florida, such as those being created at our new SEA LIFE Florida at the Resort. We will do all we can to help them find alternative employment. ”
