Why Everyone Will Be Running to McDonald's on February 10th

It’s interesting how much overlap there is between Disney fans and McDonald’s fans, but maybe that’s because some of us are old enough to remember when you could get McDonald’s fries in Disney World.

It also doesn’t hurt that the world’s largest McDonald’s is near Disney World, and we visit it often. Plus there’s a whole nostalgia thing with McDonald’s, just like with Disney. Anyway, speaking of nostalgia, McDonald’s just confirmed that the popular Shamrock Shake will be returning soon — and even offered us a back story for this sweet St. Patrick’s Day snack.

Yes, that’s right, the Shamrock Shake will be returning to McDonald’s as of February 10th, and 25 cents from every Shamrock Shake sold at participating restaurants will support local Ronald McDonald House Charities (RHMC).

McDonald’s also has a fun back story for the shake and a family reunion for Grimace. The Shamrock Shake season began when Grimace stumbled upon his family’s original recipe for the treat. That discovery led Grimace to reconnect with his uncle, Uncle O’Grimacey. Now, Uncle O’Grimacey, who lives in Sham Rock, Ireland, has packed his bags and reunited with his purple nephew. The two will travel coast-to-coast to share the joy of the Shamrock Shake and the 50th anniversary of the RMHC.

Since 1974, Mcdonald’s and RMHC have partnered to make sure that families stay together during difficult times by providing support for families of ill or injured children.
