It is almost time for the Disney Treasure to take her maiden voyage!

The Disney Treasure is the sixth and newest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet. It will take its maiden voyage on December 21st, just about a month from now. We are so excited to explore this brand-new ship, and today, we got a unique look at the Treasure as it pulled into a new port.
The Disney Treasure has been making her way from her original home at Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. Since leaving the shipyard in mid-September, the ship made a stop in Eemshaven, Netherlands, where Disney took ownership of the Treasure at the end of October.

Since then, it has made a stop at its soon-to-be home port of Port Canaveral in Florida. The Disney Treasure only stuck around for a little bit and is currently docked in the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

The Disney Treasure will spend the next few days in New York, as the ship will be christened later tonight! A ship’s christening ceremony is a maritime tradition that wishes good luck and safe sailing for the ship’s crew and guests.

Like the other Disney Cruise Line ships, the Disney Treasure has a Godparent, or should we say Godparents? Unlike the first four ships, which have just one person as the ship’s Godparent, the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure have multiple. The Disney Wish’s Godparents are all the children of Make-A-Wish, while the Disney Treasure’s Godparents are Disney Cast Members!

If you want to watch the christening of this brand-new ship live, you can do so on the Disney Parks YouTube channel starting at 8 PM Eastern tonight (November 19th.)
We will also be covering the christening live and might even have some surprises up our sleeves! So make sure to stay tuned with AllEars for even more first looks aboard Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship!
