It is almost time for the Disney Treasure to take her maiden voyage, but before she can set sail for the first time with guests, it is important that the ship participates in a maritime tradition.

A ship’s christening is a ceremony and a symbolic way to ask for safe travels and good luck for the ship’s crew and passengers. It is hard to believe that it was just about two years ago that the Disney Wish had its christening ceremony, and now it is time for the sixth and the newest ship of the Disney Cruise Line fleet to participate.
We are here live for the christening of this brand-new ship! Each Disney ship has a different Godparent. The Disney Magic’s Godmother is Tinker Bell, and the Disney Wonder’s is Patty Disney.

The Disney Dream’s is Jennifer Hudson, and the Disney Fantasy’s is Mariah Carey.

The Disney Wish has multiple Godparents, and they are the children of Make-A-Wish. The Disney Treasure will also have multiple Godparents as Disney Cast Members have officially been selected for this title.

The Disney Treasure came all the way to New York! We caught the ship making its way to the ceremony — the ship really shines at night.

Before the Christening officially began, we got to see Mickey and Minnie join Josh D’Amaro and Bob Iger as they introduced the ceremony to come.

Aladdin and Jasmine were even there!

To kick off the event officially, we got to hear Jordin Sparks sing the Disney Treasure’s official song, “Live The Adventure!”

This was followed by an incredible drone display showcasing some of the popular Disney IP seen on board, such as Aladdin, Haunted Mansion, Coco, Moana, and more, accompanied by music and sounds from each one.

It truly was such a unique way to kick off the event and got us in the adventuring spirit!

Disney also shared a little preview of the new dining, entertainment, and characters coming to the ship. Here’s a sneak peek of the Grand Hall!

We’ll be on board TOMORROW getting a first look at everything, so be sure to stay tuned to AllEars!
