Spooky season has arrived again in Disneyland Resort, and we love what that means.

We love that it means there are tons of new snacks to try all around the resort, as well as the fact that it means Oogie Boogie Bash and all its fun returns NOW (August 25th!), and, of course, that Haunted Mansion has once again become Haunted Mansion Holiday! And this year, the iconic gingerbread display inside the attraction is all new and so totally impressive!
Haunted Mansion has been closed for a lengthy refurbishment since January 22nd, 2024, which isn’t typical when preparing for Haunted Mansion Holiday. The ride will close for a few weeks at most to prepare for this new version for the holiday season, but the ride has been closed for longer for the regular version of the ride to also undergo a refurbishment. The ride finally reopened as Haunted Mansion Holiday on July 29th, 2024.

One of the most iconic parts of Haunted Mansion Holiday is getting to see the gingerbread display in the dinner scene on the ride, and this year, it’s a TOTALLY new scene!

The story behind this new scene is that Jack Skellington, aka Santa Jack, has recruited Dr. Finkelstein, Halloween Town’s resident mad scientist, to conjure up some ideas for this year’s creation. Dr. Finkelstein incorporated some of his experiments into the gingerbread house with the assistance of Igor to bring his Gigantic Gingerbread Zombie, Lil’ Franky, to life! Well, almost — there are still a few problems to work out, like how to get Lil’ Franky’s head to stop popping on and off.

This creation took over 150 hours for the Disney Resort culinary teams to build and program the animation and lighting, and that does NOT include the time it spent to BAKE all the gingerbread. It’s 5 feet tall and 6 feet wide, and the measurements for the creation are a whopping:
- 60 Pounds of Gingerbread
- 50 Pounds of Powdered Sugar
- 10 Pounds of Egg Whites
- 30 Pounds of Rolled Fondant
- 5 Pounds of Crystal Sugar
- 10 Pounds of Chocolate
- More than 240 Hours Spent Creating
- 2 Hidden Mickeys
