Did Disney Just Drop a HINT About the Villain in ‘Moana 2’?!

We are eagerly waiting for Moana 2 to be in theaters.

Moana 2 will be coming to theaters Thanksgiving week on November 27th. At D23, we were given another sneak peek at the film, which even featured a live performance from Moana herself, Auli’i Cravalho. Maui was even there as Dwayne Johnson introduced the trailer. We are only months away from this new film, and today, we think we got a sneak peek at the villain in Moana 2, except you would not believe how the news got out. 

During D23, we heard the first song that would be featured in the new film. During the trailer, we heard the villain’s voice, but we did not see what they looked like. Awhimai Fraser will voice Matangi, a mysterious threat to Moana and Maui.

Well, in a new calendar, one of the months features a picture of Moana and Matangi, giving us our first look at this new character.  While Disney themselves did not release the character photo, it looks promising that this new character is Matangi.

Along with the voice of the new villain, the trailer gave us a look at Moana’s little sister. This new film will bring Moana and Maui back together to reunite their people with others on an ancient island and break a curse.

While Lin Manuel Miranda composed the music for the first film, Moana 2’s soundtrack will be produced by Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, Grammy nominee Opetaia Foaʻi, and three-time Grammy winner Mark Mancina. 

We are so excited and can’t wait for this film to come out. We wonder if that means Moana’s outfit will be changed during her meet-and-greets in the park to reflect her new outfit in Moana 2.
