We’re Reviewing Two Popular Ways to Keep Cool in Disney World

We can’t believe you’ve left this choice up to us, and now, we must settle a debate! We’ve tried almost EVERYTHING we can think of to stay cool when Disney World is at its hottest and while we’ve had a few options work out for us, we’re not sure they’re quite as sustainable as two other great contenders.

So we’re here to extinguish your burning question — cooling towel or cooling patch!

Nothing can ruin your vacation at Disney World quite like good ole Mother Nature. While she’s nothing short of amazing and contrary to popular belief that Disney World controls the weather around their parks and hotels, we often find ourselves truly at the mercy of the elements that be (and doing our best not to let them affect us too much). So when we ran across another option that could help keep us cool on a scorching summer day, you can bet that we jumped at the chance to review it!

Before we get too ahead of ourselves, let’s rewind for a moment to remind you of our tried and true way of staying cool! Toting around a cooling towel during your vacation at Disney World is NEVER a bad idea!

Wear cool clothing

In fact, we’re so fond of them we talk about them quite often and just how easy and versatile they are to use in the parks. We’re big fans of these Sukeen cooling towels that come in a multipack (so you can share or have one designated for each day’s new bag) AND they each come with their own carrying pouch that easily clips on to your belongings or waist.

If they look fairly simple that’s because well… they are! The gist of these is there’s no fancy gimmick to them. They work by wetting them in cool water, wringing them out a bit, and after a few quick snaps, they’re super convenient to wear and keep you cool. Best of all though they work just like we would anticipate them too and for a while!

We’ve seen folks sport these all over their bodies like on their wrists, around their necks, used sparingly to dab around your body as needed, and even as a head wrap (as long as you don’t mind some damp hair for a bit)! Overall they’re inexpensive with minimal upkeep and can be washed and hung out to dry so they’re fresh for the next day’s use quickly and easily.

Ok, you’ve convinced me!

As fond as we are of these cooling TOWELS imagine our interest when we realized that COOLING PATCHES have now entered the chat (so to speak).

Cooling patches

These little patches could become your new best friend — especially if you’re someone who likes the cooling effects of a towel but minds the damp and wetness associated so closely with them.

So these are the NEW guys, huh?

Ok, great, looks like we’ve gotten your attention now! The cooling patches that we ordered also come as multiples to a box making them fairly inexpensive to try out (or continue to use). They’re also individually wrapped so packing and transporting them with you is a breeze and won’t take up much space.

Individually wrapped

When we first opened ours to test them out we were desperate for any kind of relief from the heat and humidity and were surprised to find that each cooling patch is more like a strip and longer than we thought. This made them super versatile for several different places to try out all over your body like your wrists, forehead, back of the neck, upper collar bone or chest area, and mid to lower back.

To use them, all you need to do is unwrap them, decide where you’ll want to place the cooling patch, peel away the plastic covering that’s protecting the sticky side and stick it to you! Each cooling patch also has a pleasant, fresh, minty smell (kind of like an icy hot patch) but its pretty subtle in case you’re sensitive to those smells.

We found these worked best on the backs of our necks and in our mid to lower backs and could see these working as an ideal option for little ones who you might be concerned would easily loose or forget a cooling towel.

We decided to really push their limits by repositioning them in a couple of different places once we had already stuck one on and to our surprise again it was able to stick a few times over even after its initial positioning.

I’ll give them a try!

But, we’re here to settle this question of which one reigns supreme and to be completely honest with you, we don’t quite have a clear cut answer for you! We see the benefits of each of these cooling options as the clear winner in different scenarios so our best suggestion is to get both and decide which you prefer and for which scenario! Everyone is different, so what works best for once person, might not work the best for another. We can say however, that both of these options did keep us cool in Disney World — so that’s the biggest WIN!!
