There’s just no way to avoid it: you’re going to run into crowds in Disney World.

Yes, that’s a harsh truth, but it doesn’t have to ruin your trip. Of course, you’ll encounter more crowds during certain times of the year over others, but there will always be people in Disney World. This becomes even more evident when it comes down to entertainment: prepare to fight the crowds for things like fireworks and parades. But we’ve got one secret way to beat those crowds, and we’re sharing it with you.
We’ll warn you now: this hack only works when there are more than two showings of a fireworks show, parade, or other entertainment. But it almost always guarantees fewer crowds. What’s the secret? Wait until the second showtime. For example, if you’ll be attending Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, that first Boo To You parade is going to be PACKED, but the second parade will have fewer people (by then, many people are already heading out of the party).

This is also the case with Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmastime Parade at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. That second parade will have far fewer people to contend with. You’ll be able to grab a spot much closer to the parade time without having to stake it out in advance.

If you’re visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you’ll find that there are two showings of Fantasmic! on most nights. Skip that first showing, which almost EVERYONE will be headed to, and catch the second show, when there are fewer people left in the park. You probably won’t need to purchase a Fantasmic! Dining Package to get a good seat for the second showtime.

We also have to talk about the new drone show, Dreams That Soar, in Disney Springs. We’ve been SHOCKED at the crowds we’ve seen at these shows, particularly the first show. It’s SO packed. This could be the most people we’ve ever seen in Disney Springs for an event. Some will line up hours in advance for this show, which also means you’ll have trouble getting into shops and restaurants because there are just so many people.

However, Dreams That Soar has two showings and there is a HUGE difference in the crowds between the earlier show and the later show. You’ll have far fewer people to deal with if you just wait until that second show. Go grab a late meal or a snack and wait for that one, if you can.

So your best bet when there are two showtimes for anything in Disney World is to check out that second showtime.
