Even if you don’t sign up for a runDisney race, you’ll still likely be impacted by the races if you’re visiting Disney World when they take place.

The parks will likely be filled with runners adorned in their participant t-shirts and medals, wait times might be a bit higher, and even the way you get to the parks can be affected. There’s a race weekend coming up SOON, and we’re here with all the words of advice so that you can prepare.
The 2024 Princess Half Marathon Weekend will occur from February 22nd through 25th, 2024. This weekend, make sure to pack your patience and give yourself plenty of time to get to your destination if your plans take you to the Magic Kingdom area or the Polynesian Village Resort.

And, with an influx of crowds, you may see higher wait times. This could be for food, rides, the bathroom, you name it. And that’s not all!

The race routes take place on Disney World’s roads, so traffic is affected in the early mornings. Yep, when folks are trying to head to the parks to rope drop.

We noticed a warning on the Polynesian Village Resort website with details regarding the race weekend road closure. The warning reads:
“Several roads will be operating under traffic restrictions or will be closed completely to accommodate runDisney events on the following dates: February 24, 2024 from 3AM through 7:30AM, for the Disney Princess 10K. February 25, 2024 from 3AM through 10AM, for the Disney Princess Half Marathon. Please allow for additional travel time.”

So, if you’re heading to the Polynesian for a resort stay or to dine at one of their delicious restaurants (like ‘Ohana), make sure you give yourself plenty of time or plan to park at the Transportation and Ticket Center. From there, you can just walk over or take the monorail to the Polynesian or Magic Kingdom.
